If I could get $2400 for my Gold Kennedy I would sell it!

Despite what you might think of the modern frosting techniques, they look a lot better now than they did eight or nine years ago. I think worst looking ones may have been the Star Spangled Banner commemorative coins. The Kennedy gold half dollar looks quite impressive in person.

I agree that the frosting on this piece does NOT look good.

Sorry for the screw-up. I forgot the "NOT." You can take back your likes if you like.

They did for quite a while and the raw ones still kind of are. The strong coin market of the last year and the metals run up increased the prices. That said its the 70s and especially the ones with special designations that are breaking 2k, raw ones you'll probably be around 1500-1600

Enjoy reading/learning the gold stuff...never owned a gold coin in my life...but one neat thing about these 50th Anniv 1964-2014 gold Kennedy's is that they returned the mint mark to its original reverse location.

Yes I liked the return of the mint mark. One of my favorite gold coins but in reality it is bullion.

BB21 answered it.....I thought they were super-hot in 2014 and then fell in price bigtime.

Apparently, PF70's held their value and have been strong of late. I thought even those fell close to melt or bullion value, give or take a nominal premium.

Nice illustration, although I'd have used the word "decline" rather than "evolution."

I stopped paying attention to them for several years during that period, the 70s may have and probably did fall too and have just come back. The ANA ones were the real biggies with the first one sold selling for 100k and dealers paying homeless people to wait in line.
