Is a 1964 pf69cam jefferson a top pop coin? What is a good deal for it? Thanks.

$20 sounds like a good deal. It can't be worth much more than that or it would have been bid up. It might be slightly lower at true auction, but it isn't worth much time or stress over a few bucks.

In the future, a person can check Teletrade or Heritage auction archives (as well as Ebay) to get a ballpark number. These days, both Teletrade and Heritage have a like a $8 minimum buyer's fee plus shipping, so for low cost coins the results may be skewed. For example a $6 bid on Teletrade gets close to a $20 invoice if that is the only coin won, after shipping and the fees.

If the coin were PF69 CAM in a PCGS holder, I would guess it would have gone much higher. Again, best to do your own homework and check the various auction archives, if the money matters to you. If the money doesn't matter, then just enjoy.

Well I bought it after I saw a barber half go for $6 free shipping so it seemed like prices were down especially because it was kind of early in the morning. Ebay prices can be very misleading. Some sellers' items go for way more than they should while others are losing money on most of their sales.

PCGS price guide might be a terrible place to price this since it's in an NGC holder but they have PR 69 CAM at $80 and $45 in PR 68 so it seems like you shouldn't feel bad about the price. Looks like a nice coin.

    And Numismedia has a 69 at $56.

    yes

Yes, this is a good coin.

Jefferson nickels are hard to find pre-1965 with CAM and DCAM designations. The process of making proofs changed drastically in the early 70's, so coins post-1972 are relatively common in DCAM. Not so with earlier coins.

I just saw a Teletrade auction where a 1961-S Jeff nickel PF69DCAM sold for $250.

That would be really rare considering that san fransisco didn't strike proofs until 1968.

There was only one recent 1964 5c NGC PF69 CAM on Teletrade

    http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2498&lot=1218

It hammered for $9. However, with the new fee structure the take home price would be similar to the $20 hammer for the Ebay coin.

For most moderns and ultramoderns, I find it best to ignore the price guides and just go to the auction archives (Heritage, Teletrade, Ebay).
