I just looked at the selling price of the gold halves. The prices run up to $2,400.00. The silver ones are selling below cost.
Thats insane they only have half an ounce of gold or a little less with some premium but not that much.
Here's one that's four (4) days out with a high bid currently at $710. It will be interesting to see how high it goes! https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-High-...770359?hash=item54960e44b7:g:Rn8AAOSwuQpgKxRG It's definitely an attractive coin from a distance. Too bad it has ugly laser frosting.
one of the few coins that doesn't really on its face value for weight which is why i thought it was a half ounce.
It had to be half dollar sized, and it had to be bigger than the Jackie Kennedy First Spouse coin, which was half an ounce.
It used to be real frosting. Now they have computers engrave on the die to simulate it, not nearly as attractive.
Around 2009, a CT member posted pictures of a Puerto Rico quarter they received in a silver proof set. The "frosting" was shifted off the devices by a considerable amount. The OP thought it was damaged and wanted advice on returning products to the mint. When I offered to buy it from him, he decided to keep it. I don't know if it's a recognized error yet, but I haven't seen very many...and only in the first few years.
Nice coin. I remember the frenzy to buy that coin at the coin shows in Vegas. The had kids with the same T-shirt asking people if they would sell their coin for a certain price after they bought it.
I thought after an insane 2014, they fell back to bullion value more-or-less ? Or was that the 3/4 oz. Kennedy's ?
