I see that the mint finally stopped selling the 2008 silver mint set. It seemed to coincide with the sale of the 2009 silver mint set. It looks like the 2008 set will be the lowest mintage until probably this year.
1995 - 549,878 is the lowest for silver proof set. 1993,1994,1996,1997,1998 mintage is also lower than 2008. as of today, the 2008 mintage (not final) is 774,874.
for the meantime. there will be no lowest mintage for silver and clad proof set. silver proof set lowest is 1995 at 549,878. while the clad proof set is 2008 at 1,405,874. opss. no body notice that the lowest for mint uncirculated set is also 2008 at 758,034. can 2009 top them all. i doubt it.
elaine, Thank you for keeping us all informed on what is happening at the Mint. I don't know how you find the information, but we really appreciate that you share it with us. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
The clad proof set is super. Have to go to 10X to even see minor cameo open spots. I subscribed for the silver and unc. sets. Have to wait until August sometime to get both. I'm trying to stay calm.
I ordered 5 of the silver proof sets just for the heck of it. I always order at least three of everything I want and use the extras I buy to pay for the first three when the price goes up enough. It's a long-term process I agree but I pride myself for not paying for much of what I buy. It works out more often than not. Anyway, I was busy on Friday so I registered for a subscription instead of calling after 11 AM to order them. Does anyone know any differences between delivery times if you order them the first day or if you subscribe to the sets? P.S. I have my reservations that these sets will increase in value very fast. I hope that they do of course but I'm not holding my breath either. There is just nothing related to the Lincoln anniversary in these sets that would make them any more valuable in my opinion.
in order to become a key date or lowest mintage for this series. the 2009 silver proof set must have a mintage of less than 549,878. this might be impossible unless the mint stop it at less than 500,000.
The silver pr sets have tended to lose value in the last few years. They have been duds. That may kill demand on these.
low demand at issue time coupled with higher demand at a time after which it is available is the main formula for profit in the coin business. I look at low mintages differently than most, I don't want to be following the pack, i want to be ahead of them selling off as they acquire.
Thats what I expected. I don't care when they show up it's just that I'm going to Costa Rica and I hate to have them sitting outside of my door for a week. I guess the neighbors will have to help out this time. :kewl:
To Elaine1970 Elaine, how did you get so smart? And, do you still think the silver proof set is worth the high $$$$$$ ? Thanks, just call me Woz
Safe from what? Taking the whole family. It's our vacation destination this year and we plan to do some ecotourism. I've been to more dangerous places and still took the kids. Costa Rica is relatively safe.
