Thanks @Kevin Mader and @DatDareNickelGuy. I've been concentrating on CRH quantity to try to fill all my slots with the best quality, and along the way maybe find some silver, W's, NIFCs, and known modern quarter errors. Might need to get 1) some error lists, and 2) a better magnifier than my large 2x (for 74 y.o. eyes). I've been in contact with the local (AZ Territorial) coin club president, and after my 2nd Covid shot next week, I will probably start attending monthly meetings. Maybe in my intro speech I will mention some of these things. And I have been taking pretty good pics with my digital microscope setup. Hey - that with the computer screen could also be my "live" magnifier for errors.

Long day today. Finished a couple boxes and cleaned out the safe. Had to move things around and I forgot I bought this coin. I got it for $20 shipped on eBay. Looks like a plain old coin but when you see the close ups you will see what I saw. And for $20 shipped ill buy these all day long for that price!

Once in awhile you will find these great deals online. It is always hard to find such a nice strong clash on the obverse where the line runs from the ponytail thru the front chin. And like I said for $20 shipped ill buy that everyday.

Got a couple nice boxes to post tomorrow. Some very nice finds coming up!

Sounds familiar! I think folks will find with enough CRH events, they can put together AU/BU sets from certain points forward. For Jefferson nickels, for instance, folks should be able to piece together AU/BU coins from the mid-50s forward (I was able to). And you will find many between 1938 and the mid-50s that are AU/BU specimens. Those that are interested should start here on Page 1 and move through the specimens found by @DatDareNickelGuy where many early Jeffersons are just that. In the end, collectors may only need to buy a couple/few dozen AU/BU specimens to have a very respectable series collection.

Just a note of caution: even after your second shot, you may be susceptible to catching the virus anyway. Watch the % of those vaccinated and CDC's recommendation when it would be safe to attend the coin club. It will improve your odds of avoiding the virus.

A good box with a very interesting error. That 2018D has a weak strike on both obverse and reverse. The planchet is very thick. This caused the dies to not properly press the coin on the high points. The inner rim of the coin as well in concaved. I forgot what this error is called but for now we will call it a defected planchet. Along with another cross cent and a weird warped one. The cents won't be added to the Master List. Just thought Id show the weird finds as well.

    3-Errors 2018D defected planchet,2012P DDR Reverse and a 1970D Struck Thru
    1-Silver 1945D
    1-Foreign 1993 Canada
    3-AU/BU 1963D,1979P,and a 1987D
2-Lincolns A cross cent and a weird warped one that popped my roll all over the place!
    10-Common 50s
    5-Common 40s
    6-2009D

Well guys I was going to post two boxes tonight but something fantastic just happened. I posted the box above and then decided to prep my next two boxes first for hunting. Well as I was checking enders I believe I hit our first collection dump. I am pulling rolls of coins out of this box to keep. It is machined wrapped and the best part is I have the sister box too!!!!!

Ive pulled out some amazing BU coins. Will have these two boxes posted by tomorrow. Cant wait to edit the photos and show you some strong 40s BU coins with full steps!!!!! Every roll has 40s,50s,and 60s strong BU coins. And all of them have a very pleasing gold tone to them!

image.jpeg Here is a nice picture of my dinner lol.... Im sure we have all been there before. You start hunting a box and lose track of time. It's too late to cook so im stuck with chips and a PB&J. This collection dump was so fun to hunt. Will post it tomorrow.

But until then enjoy the Obverse and Reverse of this sandwich!

I was a 'supplier' to a couple banks in town...unloaded most of my residual coinage that built up over the years. I was glad to clean up...and for a change...they were happy to see me!! But no chance in getting coins at this point as they are holding coinage in reserve for their commercial accounts only.

Well guys some more great news!!!!!!!! Just left the bank with the collection dump. I pretty much begged my girls there for two more boxes. I brought in one of the coins and showed them what I was finding. Roll after roll of these beautiful 50's and 60's BU coins. All of them have that gorgeous bronze rose gold color to them (this is usually caused by being stored in those old 60's screw top rolls)A lot of them have strong steps!

Those girls were very sweet and gave me two more with no problems. I also informed them to be on the look out while they open their rolls.

Im currently at the gym (gotta work off that PB&J) but when I get home ill post a pic of one of these gorgeous coins!

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Well guys just got home. Here are a few pics of these BU beautiful coins. I just picked a random couple of coins. Like I stated im currently about to start the second box. And I got two more boxes today from the same bank. I'm super excited!

Sorry the last photo is a little blurry but just wanted to show the comparison. The toning to these are simply gorgeous. The rims are razor sharp and the mint luster is strong. So just in this one box im pulling out over 220+ coins! Compared to a normal box of 20-25 finds.

This box not only had a bunch of beautiful BU coins but also a lot of Pre 60s coins as well. I have no idea how I'm going to post this box but I'll figure it out. Three more boxes to go!

But when I do post this box ill pull out some pristine examples. Some of these 50s BU coins have very clean fields and the steps are easily all there. I might have to submit some to NGC.

Make sure to check any 42-d non silvers for d over horizontal d. I found one box hunting and it grades out at xf-40. Not a bad price tag even at low XF

And the final part of this box. I really wish this box never ended but I am very happy I was able to save these BU coins from circulation. Keep in mind ill post the sister box to this tomorrow. The second box was also very good.

All coin listed below are high grades.

    2-1942P
    1-1956P
    1-1958D
    2-1959D
    1-1960P
    6-1960D
    6-1961P
    1-1961D
    8-1962P
    4-1962D
    4-1963P
    7-1964P
    2-1964D
    1-1966P
    8-1968S
    1-1968D
    1-1970S
    1-1973D
    1-1980D

Also pulled out a bunch of early 90s coins that were in amazing shape. I wont count those to the AU/BU list. The AU/BU list only has Pre-89s.

And finally the total stats for this amazing box!

    4-Errors
    1-Silver
    1-1938P
    1-1958P
    2-1951D
    3-1939P
    1-1946S
    4-1952S
58-AU/BU--(Mostly if not all are BU)
33-Common 50s (a lot of these are in the high XF grade)
    17-Common 40s
    12-2009D

Total coins pulled for this box 137! Not counting a couple of rolls of early BU 90s coins I pulled as well. Almost 220 pulled after all said and done.

I would like to add that it is a shame somebody dumped such beautiful nickels into circulation. I am very happy I saved them.

Whats also strange is that golden color they have is usually due to them being stored in those old 60's rolls.

So what I find strange is somebody most likely cashed these in by twisting the tops off these old 60's rolls and dumped them.

But hey they are safe with me now!

After I post the second box tomorrow ill post a updated Master List.

Great fun finding a dump!!! I landed a couple dumps of 60s nickels over the years and found many DDO/DDR specimens!! I ended up with entire rolls for dates/mms. Almost as much fun as finding older AU/BU nickels. I think that when this is done, you will have a VF/XF or better set for the most part. Amazing to think that it can be done from CRH, but so many collections are dumped and many slabbed coins liberated.

I have a few nickels I need input on. Not sure if Tje flip info is correct. First is a 1962. Soft gold toning and a rotated die. Is this a proof? Or SMS. Looks to be FS.
    Worth grading?

Next is a 1963. Same questions. Looks like an FS and minor die rotation. 6DD9DBB9-7B14-4465-BC61-05E1421EE5C8.jpeg D1596349-D5CA-4DBC-9CFD-D800114898D4.jpeg
