Here at CoinTalk, I've always heard about the good people to deal with as well as the ones to stay away from. Why not say who it is and possibly prevent any of the rest of us from making a bad deal? Bruce
I feel we are actually luck. We don't have much bad stuff going on here. Hope everything works out ok.
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I just felt the need to in some way, make our CT community aware of my unfortunate ( to say the least) recent experience.
It seems there's no problem in naming bad eBay sellers here (or on the CFE boards)... I don't know why there would be a problem naming a bad member. But then again, I don't know all the rules...
Since July 1st. 12th-present upon notifying him, his payment to me was "not good"..there has been absolutely no response from him on three separate attempts. My account has racket up a total of $90.00 in bad check fees, not to mention the cost of the item I sent, which was 40.00 and my out of pocket shipping costs.
If I receive permission to call him out publicly, which I will take under consideration, I will do so with a simple "negative feedback" titled Bad Check writer. That will be the end of it.
Actually, I will post a copy of the bad check. All of this could have been avoided with a simple email, saying "Tom, if you don't mind, please hold my check for awhile, things are tight. There would have been no problem in doing so.
I wouldn't risk any more of your money by trying to deposit his check again. If you don't get good funds in the form of a money order, etc. and quickly, I'd consider going to small claims court. Assumimg he doesn't show up (or does and loses), if he doesn't pay, I believe that you can get an arrest warrant issued.
Oh the check processing has ended. It's bad. My Neighbor is an assistant DA, and I know the DA personally. But really, at this point, none of that is worth pursuing mark. But a letter from my DA, to his, will be forthcoming to his office, advising this individual is a "bad check" writer and if the individual does not return my item, it's considered theft and fraud using the internet.
` I am sorry but did you take a personal check. Unless you already had prior dealings with this member, I would have never accepted a personal check and I sure would have ship the item with out the bank saying it was okay.
Back in the late '90's when I was in the heyday of my selling on eBay, personal checks and M.O.'s were the accepted method of payment (this was before PayPal). I guess in maybe five-hundred plus selling transactions (most involving personal checks) I never had a single one bounce. And I would ship upon receipt, never waiting for the check to clear. Lucky? Maybe... but I tend to believe that people are basically honest, and statistically they are. Then again, the dollar amounts were low (in the ten to fifty dollar range). I would think once you get into the $100 plus range, caution should be exercised.
shatzy, I did , and I did. Now one would say, you got whatever your foolishness provided for you. I'll disagree. The only thing of value that anyone of us has to give another, is there word. Once that trust is broken with me, it is broke forever. If someone would do this for a lousy 40.00 item, and become recognized for the no character individual he is. Well, it's worth to me.
JUST an FYI , it is my belief that this individual responded to this post, under a different member name and commented on the situation. That was what I intended to happen by this post, to bring the sucker out of hiding with his newly created identity. He didn't realize he did it, so he is not as clever or deceptive as he would think he is. thieves, will always make a mistake, if you patient enough.
MY next post will be titled " Bad check" writers, and his check will be posted for all to see. Be patient.
