I finally put together a full district set of postmarked 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Notes! http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/1976-District-Set.html Now that I'm looking at the set, I need to find an "A" with "13-Star Flag Over Independence Hall" stamp!
Very cool!! I have only one stamped one from a Citizen's Bank which has the 13 cent stamp, but is conveniently missing the date!!!
I found it! My work is done (for this set) - I have all 12 Districts with the "13-Star Flag Over Independence Hall" stamp (Scott# 1622). Now, I need to scan my set of postmarked Series 1976 $2 FRNs with all 50 State Flag stamps.
for the b.e.p. why not printing more $2.00 for circulation instead of $1.00 bill?. we already got the one dollar coin.
Yep, I wonder the same thing. The one dollar coin will never catch on until the up the production of the $2 note and eliminate the $1 bill......
get rid of the nasty ugly $1 coins! Keep the note. Why does everyone advocate eliminating the $1 note in favor of a silly token? Man are they ugly!
Several months ago, I managed to build a full district set of 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Notes, postmarked on the First Day of Issue, April 13, 1976 -- Each of the 12 notes had the same stamp, the 13-star flag over Independence Hall stamp (Scott Number 1622): http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/1976-District-Set-1622.html After a lot of work, I've built another set. This one is another full district set and each note has the same stamp -- In this case, the Americana Issue - Eagle with Shield stamp (Scott number 1596): http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/1976-District-Set-1596.html Now, that's crazy!
Very nice set congragulations. I used to collect stamps & First Day of Issues ,this set hits home on two of my hobbies past and present .
good eye Numbers While it may be crazy (your words) to complete the two sets... if you want to go truly insane .... get all the stamps on 1 side lol you know.. for equilibrium
That is a good question. I have two of them, but I also have one postmarked in Louisville, KY and Memphis, TN -- I also have these oddities: Four District A (Boston) postmarked in Harlan County, KY (three are sequential serial numbers, A09291676A-78A) District A (Boston) postmarked in New Cumberland, PA Two District D (Cleveland) postmarked in Crafton, PA District C (Philadelphia) postmarked in Washington, DC Eight District E (Richmond) postmarked in Galloway, WI (six are almost sequential serial numbers, E16104712A, 14A, 15A, 16A, 18A, and 19A)
Don't laugh -- There's no end to my insanity with 1976 $2 FDI FRNs. :goofer: For the bicentennial, the USPS issued a "State Flag" series of stamps -- One stamp for each of the 50 states. I have one set of 1976 $2 FRN FDI with all 50 state flags, and I'm one note away from having my second set. I'm also working on a few other sets.
I did it again! Wow! What a feeling of accomplishment! I collected another full district set -- This time with the Liberty Bell stamp (Scott Number 1618): http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/1976-District-Set-1618.html
I never thought about doing something like this, and I'm really impressed with the collection. Congrats. The only $2 1976 I have is a Philly note in at least Unc. The cool thing about it though is that it has the cancelled stamp on it and is a STAR note. Any ideas on what that one might be worth?
