Any recommendations for the best Ebay sniper software available? Any good or bad experiences with a specific program? Just trying to gather some information. Thanks.

I don't use sniper software. I have a cable modem and just watch it count down - at about 7 seconds I can get a bid in. In most cases 90% I do not even snipe - I just place the bid I am willing to pay and let nature run its course. I just really can not see the reason for sniping - put in once what you are willing to pay and forget it.

I have been using bidnapper for over a year and love it. It cost me $7 per month and well worth it in my mind. I do a quick search everyday and put everything I want into the program. That way to do have to sit around and wait and you don't have to worry about getting caught up in any bidding wars.

Why pay? I do the same thing on ebay without the software. Bid and just wait. I am not trying to be rude - but how do you justify it? All it means is that you are willing to bid more than others at the last second. Still first come with a bid that nobody is willing to go higher on will win.

Simple, I win more coins using the software.
Another reason is there are way to many people shill bidding on eBay and this helps prevent it. I just got shill bidded last weekend and I wasn't using the software.
The last reason is I can bid on lets say 3 of the same coin and if I don't win the first coin it automatically bids on the second coin and so on.

sniping saves you money, if you have a high bid in there with alot of room between your max and what the last bid was, they will start creeping up on you to be the high bidder, closing your gap. If you go in and snipe you eliminate that to some degree. I do it on my own, nothing feels as good as getting a steal!

I use GavelSnipe.Com, it is from Heritage and works on Ebay as well. It is free.

I only use it when I will be away from the puter because it comes in at 18 seconds to go.....much too soon for a true snipe. But, you can program 100 snipes real easy, go fishing and come home and see if you had any luck. Set your bids for rips, if you win, you rip, if you lose, oh well.

If I am home at auction end, I always snipe manually and usually with 2 seconds to go

Nice coin with great toning. I think it's a good buy and if you're happy then that's all that matters. I'd love to own that coin, among many others.

And what do you do if the auction is ending at 3 a.m. in your time zone?

Now that can would be a good feature and make it worth the money.

But shill bidding you would have to explain to me. I put in my max if a shill bidder comes in and places a bid larger than mine then they are more than welcome to the coin. Ebay gets their fees and the seller can relist. That is fine with me since the seller loses money. I usually prefer to be the first bidder to a price level - then everybody else can over bid(does not make it a fact just my opinion). And yes I always like to get a deal - but most coins on ebay are not deals. I get this from watching copper, bust halves and shield nickels. I bid on few coins. So if I win I win at the price I was willing to pay to start with - to me it only takes one legit sniper to get me to my limit. OH - my bids are easy to guess I am usually(not always) bidding around heritage prices if the coin is as nice as what I see on heritage. :) LOL and one of the reasons I like DLRC is because of the make an offer - I have had several come back for nice coins that I got cheaper than heritage.

With shill bidding the shill bidder keeps up the bid and not trying to win the auction. If you see a bidder that keeps bidding the min amount to basically stiff out where the other guy is at. If you snipe the auction the shill bidder cant keep bidding up the auction and you will most likely get it for a lower amout.

Mark...I will send you a PM with the auction that I got shill bidded.

Auctionsniper.com is what I've been using for about 5 years with no problems. As for why. I just hate it when someone bids minimum bid after bid just to top you by one bid and stop. I just put my max bid in and check it later

Just be careful calling something shill bidding - I know a guy who would determine what something (not coins) was worth. Then he would repeatedly bid in minimum increments - he won more than I could believe. In some auctions I think bidders just quit. I don't think he was ever accused of it, but I could see where someone might. I will check out your auction.

I like esnipe. It's easy to use. You only pay for services that you use - winning bids. They also have the "folder" feature where you can line up bids on items and it drops you out if you win one of them. It's a nice feature for multiple bids on similar items or when I have a certain budget and there are 3 or 4 items I'd like but I only want to win one of them.

    I don't snipe.
I bid my max sometime in the last 24 hrs of a auction and let it go at that.

I've used esnipe.com for years, it's free and has never ever failed me. They even have a snipelet thing that you can install to work on the eBay pages. With esnipe, I win nearly every time, especially if you know the value of what an item is worth and should sell for and how to bid appropriately (higher). With esnipe I have stayed on budget and never get into bidding wars. Very highly recommended and easy to use.

A bidding war is one of the worst things that can happen.
That's why sniping s/w is nice.
Or my way of a max bid then ignoring the auction until it's over.

    snipe software?

I didn't know it existed, being fairly new to this ebay game i have won a few auctions at 3:00 a.m but I have lost a lot more in the last 30 seconds. I thought everyone was like me setting at the puter with a mountain dew at 3:00 a.m and they just had faster fingers. Thanks for another lesson in ebay 101.:mouth:

    Lesson 2
Another thing you can do is put a low bid in and then go back to the page and click the "1-click bid" and it will open a new little window and when the auction only has 3 minutes left it will start the countdown and you can bid when it gets to about 5 seconds.
