does anyone else think they will never go super high prices? i still have an ocd i want 4 of all 4 at min but il save as many as possible.
No, I don't think they will be worth much. The initial high prices seen when the first cent came out have come and gone. These coins are being produced in the millions and being hoarded like crazy. They won't ever hold much of a premium IMHO and in the neat future will be found at very low prices for MS sets.
Would this be worth ordering? It's $4.45 for the set http://www.coinsofamerica.com/iwwidb.pvx?;multi_item_submit Anyone ever got coins from this site? EDIT: Sorry, the link doesn't seem to work. Time they apply shipping charges and all, it'll probably cost you around $10. I'd save that money towards the uncirculated mint sets that are due to come out in like a month. They'll be in lower mintages, and contain a special composition (95% copper I believe). For now, just keep checking the banks for the pennies.
Yeah I will to. I'm just going to keep checking the banks. I don't think these will really ever have any significant value though given the huge mintage. However there's potential in the US Mint's uncirculated mint set and proof versions. Or at least, more potential than the regular business strikes.
im trying to get a roll or two my banks must suck! lol immgonna have to buy them from the mint prolly.
Nah, they will have a slightly higher premium than the previous years (07/08) due to mintage, but nothing that will make you rich. Also, they are being hoarded big time so nice, MS examples will be around for long, long time. The real trick to these, just as with the Memorial series, is finding ultra-high grade examples.
I'm starting to see a bunch of formative years in circulation. I guess it must be the one not to get.
These coins will be found fairly easily in circulation, and really won't demand a premium, because there were so many of them made, and many coins are graded at a high MS grade. These coins won't go up that much in value, so don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.
I have been keeping a few in my wallet for the last few months, and from time to time when I buy something I will use one to make chage. And I make a point to tell the person,, "hey look you get a new penny". I have done this about ten times and I think maybe twice, the person looked at the coin. The rest of the time they just threw it in the register without a care. I have been giving them to kids alot. And they seem to love them.
