Just curious as for I have not found any info on release dates for the 2009 D Jefferson and Roosevelt. Does anyone have or heard when they will be released? Thanks
Here ya go Fish.....http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/ I know what some people are thinking....Just because they are minted doesn't mean they are released, but I have heard of 2009 Nickels and dimes popping up here and there. No mintmarks noted though, so they could very well have been the Phillys.
I don't know when the D's are coming, but I tell you, if I can be the first to find either one, boy o boy, am I selling. Because later on this year, or early next year, this will be old news, and all of those fools who paid so much will be feeling sorry (Not to call you a fool, but I'm guessing you paid way to much though) Once the D's come to ebay, I will give you a tip, don't buy them, my prediction is the dimes go for around $55 for the first D and near $100 for the first D nickel.
It's true. My son has been down my neck to get them for "HIS" lol dansco and I bought them both for $7.
Fish bought the P's from me and got them for the lowest price that I sold any of them for. Good job fishaddict! Now, I want to beat T$ to the D's so I can sell them as well.....

They have been "released" they just may not be "out " yet. Once they were minted they were "released" or available for shipment to the Fed and dispursal. They aren't deliberately holding them back. Whether or not the Fed has actualy ordered, taken delivery, or disbursed any to the banks yet depends on the banks requirements They don't keep track of which date and mint marks they have sent out. If the banks and/or the Fed still have plenty of circulated cons on hand for satisfying requests from the banks, then the new stuff will just sit there an wait.
The only coins which have a "Release Date" are either special program coins, such as State Quarters, Territorial Quarters, Lincoln BiCentennial Coins, and Presidential Dollars, or Commemorative coins. In both cases, "Release Date" refers to the day the US Mint begins selling them online. Regular old fashioned circulating coinage has never had a release date as they are minted up and stored in Mint vaults until the Federal Reserve orders them. Then they are shipped to the banks for distribution through regular commerce channels. Unfortunately, the vastness of the US Mints product offerings has tainted the new collectors into thinking that everything has a "release date" when the reality is that no such dates exist for circulating coinage. If you're not seeing any 2009-D Nickels, it simply because the member banks in your area have not received any from the Federal Reserve system because nobody is ordering them. With that in mind and along the lines of the US Mint pandering to US Coin Collectors, I feel that the US Treasury department is REALLY missing the boat in not offering roll sets of every coin denomination on a specific "release date"! They could make enough money during these hard economic times to offset a good portion of their overhead and satisfy the needs of coin collectors through the world! Are you reading this Edmund??
I have an order of $200 of 2009 nickel rolls coming in next week. Fingers crossed they are D's because if they are boy oh boy the madness will continue for the rest of the year. Doubt it though but one can only hope
When the mint sets come out I'll have my P & D dime and nickel. I am going to bust up a mint set this year for the albums. I think that will be cheaper.
Hey Im just doing my job. Never in my life I received thanks for the job I did beofre joining the Army so everytime the job we do is appreciated that is one thing that keeps me going every day. I just wish that people were the same back in the Vietnam days because those guys came home to people that spit on them and cursed them. I have so much resepct for those before me because the times were rougher back then than they are now and it is because of them that I am able to serve today
