I bought this one fairly recently as an upgrade to the MS65RD I used to own. I really like that it's in an old green holder which gives me some reassurance that this color is less likely to change over time.
Is that real? I've never seen a real one like that before. Steroids? Lots of viewable ripple & muscle mass to it, I'll admit. Have several that were not from San Fran. Was just working with my camera system today with a 1909 to try to figure out what I want my next camera to do (Great macro/remote control/ALL manual mode....for Everything/schiemflueg/access to the SD card without taking it off the tripod......) and a subject worthy like that. Instead I have my skin diving camera and this dirty old VDB.
Thanks for the nice comments on the 1909-S. Always love that semi-key date. Not quite as key as the 1909-S VDB though :thumb:
Indeed, I'd love to hold that one! What a beauty! The 09-S is also outstanding! Very nice coins illini420.
Wow, thanks for the nice comments. I picked up the S-VDB last year from Eagle Eye Rare Coins and love it. Always wanted one of those since I got my first Redbook when I was 7 or 8. Here's another Lincoln I just posted on the Matte Proof threads going right now in case you haven't been reading those: Definitely one of my favorite couple of coins that I own. :thumb: Let's see some more Lincolns!!!
Here's a few I got from dealer for like 6-8$ each or so. It's hard for me to resist buying these. I think about sending in but I never seem to get above a 65 RD so not worth it. Any opinions? I hope someone posts. Last few times I posted not getting too many responses? :crying::crying::crying:
1915 Scratched A dealer friend looked at this coin and convinced me to buy (maybe it was his or his friends) at my local shop and against my better judgement. He told me he thought it would grade due to rarity etc. Any opinions? I will likely return this one.
Wow. How much does that cost for those photos? I think it's like $70 or so and the graders have photogs they contract to right? I guess it's worth it for a $3K coin. You have an eye for coins. Charmy has a lot of coins with this great type of toning.
Hey that's cheating. Do you know how many times I was tempted to sneak an IHC up here? I think we should start a thread: "Post your Indian Head Cents". Assuming this is like a 64 RB?
The photos of my 1909 Matte Proof and my 1909 IHC (found in the 1909 set in my signature) were taken by Brandon Kelley of Polaris Coins (formerly of Anaconda). Ultimately I'll have my entire set professionally imaged so I can get a more uniform look. There are a few folks who do excellent work and charge around $10 per coin +/- a couple of bucks depending on what you need them to do (just basic images or some photoshop work too). The PCGS TrueView prices are just too much for me to go that route, even though I like their images. It's up to $20 per coin + a $10 per coin reholder fee (so it's $30/ea). Here's another cool image that Brandon gave me of the Matte Proof. He just took the photos of the coin, but I put it on the black background and did the reflection myself using a template provided by a Collectors Universe Forum member.
