Got some cash for the weekend today and this is one of the bills that was given to me. Don't see many small head bills anymore. I think someone had it hidden under their mattress.
Never know. I have some in my right now in my wallet. Whenever I get $100s a percentage of them are the older series. Being higher denomination, they do not wear out like the $1 and $5 do. If I am going overseas I always check and trade the teller any older ones for newer style, since older series aren't as accepted overseas as current ones are.
They end up out there. I saw a few working at the grocery store. More often, you get old 10s. something about Memeres you know
I got a $10 smallhead a year and a half ago. I remember seeing a few as a child; but they were mostly the '96-2003 "gray" notes.
As more and more baby boomers and their parents pass away, safe deposit boxes are emptied and distributed. Many of this generation believed in having a cash reserve on hand as “rainy day” money.
I haven't seen a small head banknote in circulation since 2017 when I worked as a cashier for the Boy Scouts at the most recent National Jamboree. One of my co-workers actually believed he had found a counterfeit when he received one as payment. Needless to say, though, it wasn't counterfeit and, in turn, demonstrated the ignorance of my generation.
Because the hundreds sometimes don't circulate a lot, you can occasionally find a small head. It's a spender and sometimes there is an issue if the clerk is a moron, so best to just deposit it into your bank.
I just traded it at my LCS for an XF 1958 Seated Quarter and 5 worn SLQ and Barber quarters. Photos to be posted later in the US forum.
I spent about $60 in brand new $2 bills at a farming retailer a month or so ago. The teller had to use her "magic pen" on every one of them. Ignorance. Common Sense isn't common anymore.
