Just came across this one and I'm loving it. Looks like fish hook and line and die break is in the perfect spot. I know it's a zinc but had to post it. Thanks
its my version of pederoia I like to call it an unidentifiable flying object weather its in the sky or on a coin
Thats a die crack it does look like a fish hook with line i was looking at the wrong one the coin is a keeper in my book.
I believe its Lincoln's bow tie that die crack lined up with so well makes it appear to be a fishing hook but it's still a nice length and has great eye appeal to me as a fisherman...Thanks
Will lower lighting and post better ones I hope. I was just laughing to much Hope these pics are better and my apologies, I was laughing so much when I posted.
I am always having to refresh my memory about scratches v. die cracks. I understand that if the 'line' is incused or sunken into the face of the coin then it is probably a scratch but that if it is raised and not sunken then it may be a die crack or the beginning of the formation of a die crack. I can't tell whether the line is raised or incused from the photographs. Here is what it looks like to my eyes. Looks like the line with the blue arrows may be sunken or incused and the line with the red arrows looks like it may be raised. Now if it is raised, I am not sure whether it is a die crack or caused by blistering. Maybe our experts will tell us what they think @paddyman98 Here are a couple of links that discuss difference between die cracks and scratches and how to try to distinguish the difference. And I know there are more discussions of the subject right here on CoinTalk. http://cuds-on-coins.com/rim-to-rim-die-cracks-on-u-s-coins-2/ https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1022804/die-crack-or-scratch
It would not make us dumb to think it may be a scratch. If we were wrong, it would only make us less experienced or less knowledgeable on the subject than experts. j/s
Now that you point that out it might be a scratch didn't look at it close enough looks more sunk in like a cut from a sharp object.
I personally think its a scratch , possibly from my H. S graduation party . Boy . That was a rough one . I'm just saying .
You reminded me about my wedding 2 years ago.. This was the cake topper my wife and I chose! Our cake was Blue.. You can see the topper in this picture..
No y'ain't, that's a scratch running up against the bow tie. Look at the obverse pick, you can make it out better in that. The "hook" of course is just a part of the tie.
