1997 D brass ??

I know there's no high value but just curious if I'm correct here. The BOTTOM LEFT is what I susspect to be "brass". I didn't weigh them because I didn't think the weights would be enough to notice (10 % zinc can't weigh that much). Anyways....is it a brass piece? I attached 3 others for comparision.Thanks for the assistance.

I remember making these in Chemistry class

 

OK..I am aware of the chemical reactions possible to change color of coins (zinc/ zinc nail and drano product). Other then comments is there a way to verify that it is a brass. Due to wear and tear of coins it would be hard to make a determiniation as to the authenticity by weight of it other than sending it in. I'm not looking to spend $30 on a $15 coin. Just asking not trying to ruffel feathers here. Is it possible to tell?

 

Isn't brass a mixture of zinc and copper? So what's the big fuss over this? Still learning.

No ofense rock..there is few I respect more on this sight. They were suposed to be %100 percent copper coated but as I understand a few years there was %10 zinc somehow got added to the copper plating.

 

No idea on how to go about doing this...any help would be greatly appreciated

Zinc planchets got stuck in the plating bin and partially disolved, turning the copper plating brass. Thats the theroy anyway.
