So I stopped by the flea market the other day, and I found this coin for $5. I thought it was rather nifty looking, so I snatched it up. The description with it says "Wyber/German Seige Money, 1780-1795, Napoleonic War." I'm not sure how much I can trust that, as the guy I bought it from grossly misidentified a Roman coin (it was a later 3rd century antoninianus mislabeled as a coin of Galba, which is an error of around 200 years) but seemed to be very sure of his identification skills when pressed. In any case, I'm having trouble finding information relating to this coin, so was the description right, what is it if it isn't, what is it made of, and was $5 a decent price to pay for it?
It's a 5 Pfennig Notgeld piece from the German town of Wyk, no date but circa 1918, made of Iron. Obverse Legend: KLEIN GELDERSATZ MARKE...roughly, small change substitute. Reverse legend: WYKER SPAR UND LEIHKASSE... Wyk Savings and Loan.
