The title got my attention too. FDR died in April 1945. Maybe the mint did make some 1945 pattern coins, although I doubt it. The arguments were over who would get to design the coin, John Sinnock or an outside artist and once Sinnock was selected, where the "LIBERTY" would go.
Well, by 1945 Roosevelt had gotten the US through the 1929 Depression and almost all of WWII. Maybe he should have been on the dime by that time
I bought a bunch of coins from an auction. They had an older dealer that overrated the coins and couldn't sell them. I got them very cheap as only one other person bid on them.
