I didn't know what currency collecting is called and what people who collect currency are called.
So I looked it up (it's not easy to find).

First, the term "currency" includes both coins and paper money so the broad hobby words are numismatics and numismatists.
But there are words for the subcategory of paper money.

    Here they are.

Notaphily is the study and collecting of paper currency, and banknotes.
A notaphilist is a collector of banknotes or paper money, particularly as a hobby.

And since all types of numismatic collecting lead to an appreciation of history, art, and culture - the moniker of notaphilistine is appropriate.

Ragpicker was a somewhat derogatory term coin collectors labeled paper money collectors before paper money gained popularity and skyrocketed in value. They don’t call them rags anymore.

I think it means not-a-filly or not a "filly" or a lady horse.

Well I screwed up as usual. A stallion is not a fillly unless it's transgender. I didn't intend to include "not" in my earlier comment. The only proof reading I do these days is from a bottle. It keeps me from knowing it's -30 outside.
