Don't yell at me to much and tried to put it aside as worn die, circulation wear and tear but it kept calling to me and I have to ask if anyone sees what I am or should I have my son call the men with the white suits and straight jacket?...lol

I was thinking more large date over small transition (if there is such a thing) only because of the digit 2 shape. I know..I know but better to ask and be a fool then to spend and find out later..I was a bigger fool for not asking...lol

As far as I know, there's no report of any large over small date 1982-D Lincoln Cent.

Thanks everyone and honest I tried to talk myself into just believing it was a stain, worn die...yada... yada... yadda but when small date 2 digit image seemed to appear then the smaller top of 8 I got scared...lol
My knowledge of how that process is done if it is even done anymore is a big fat zero and why I posted.

I've read online as to how it happened on other coins I meant the current minting process like switching dies if prior is worn or damaged how coins that were struck are gathered and what procedures. Then the die replacing prior die and subtle differences that may occur during adjustments. Alot of things that can happen and that's just changing out the die...lol

That was cool to watch. I especially liked the Canadian mint on making gold coins. To this day I still like the color of the Canadian gold leaf coin better than the American gold coins. That gold leaf design really got my attention long ago. I used to have a couple 1/10th oz coins , but had to sell them during hard times. Down the road I would like get more Canadian 1/10th oz. coins again.
