Channel flipping trying to find the NASCAR race came across HSN, with, get this, all 4 2009 Lincoln cents, proof, graded PR70, by ANACS. All this for only 139.95 + $8.95 S&H.

Sales pitch is that the proofs are 100 time rarer than the production cents, and the PR70 is 100 time rarer than the average proof.

Found the race it's on TNT

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It is always fun to watch a comedy show. They are just not quite as good as bud and lou - at least I own some of their shows. :)

Aren't the PF70's going for like $400 a set on ebay, graded by NGC?
I know everything you buy on HSN is a crock, but the log cabin pennies were good deals when they started out, two MS67's, P and D, then two Rolls one P and D, then the red oak presentation box for less than $50. (If you ask me that was one heck of a deal, for what the 67's go for now graded by PCGS and NGC)
Me personally, I wouln't buy from HSN or recommend it to anybody

LOL - meant to say Bud and Lou. So yes Bud Abbot and Lou Costello. Love em - have at least 20 of their movies.

    Heyyyyyyyy Aaaaaabbott! :D

Love those guys. One of my favorites was when Costello's uncle struck gold in Alaska and sent a telegram, Struck Gold. Need Help. Come Quick.
Bud and Lou go through the U-Drive routine to save money on the travel, finally after getting to Alaska they find Lou's uncle in jail. His explanation was, " yea I struck gold, Sam Gold, the Sheriff"

Was that an episode of the series? I don't remember a movie about that - I know they did one about alaska, but I don't remember it. My favorites are "The time of their lives" and "Hold that Ghost".

I'm thinking it was a routine from their TV show. Probably should do some research now that I'm thinking of it.

For once, that was actually a reasonable deal. It also included two free ANACS grading certificates.

I record all of the coin shows on my DVR. It's entertaining to watch and see if their "expert" really knows what he/she is talking about.

They love to make it seem like everything they have in their inventory is the deal of a lifetime.

There are now quite a few "Coin Shows" on the satellite Direct TV. I have come across quite a few including the Coin Vault, where they were selling the 2009 Proof Set (all 18 coins) for below US Mint issue price with free shipping. They were a nickel below the sell price, but, these guys and others are making it increasingly hard to get your subscriptions from the mint. They are buying up all of the Mints offerings.

Anyway, sometimes you find good deals, sometimes (at most) you don't.

In this economy, its hard to for most to be able to just buy coins, at will.
I was happy that I got my Proof Set sent from the mint and waiting for the American Eagle Silver Proofs to finally come out.

:hail:Any word on the American Eagle Proof and uncirculated coins, doe anyone know what is going on there?:mouth:

I don't think we will see a 2009 proof maybe 2010 will be the year!!

If what you are saying rings true, that would be terrible. The US Mint employees do not have a clue as to when the Silver AE will be released. One gave her best guess as to end of summer, into fall.
