I am going to start this thread and before I even begin I would like to be the first to say Mea Culpa!
That is a latin phrase meaning. "My Fault" and yes the author of this thread is offering an olive branch as well finding blame within himself!

Look gang we are in uncharted waters here...we all have been effected by this world wide plague.
This isnt about politics....its about us and one word RESPECT

Its not cool to crap in someone's thread....not cool to tell someone who has come here to learn ,ask questions about a coin information that isn't true! You can give advise on a subject you do not know of what you speak!
Giving the wrong information leading someone astray is just wrong!
It makes this forum that many trust loose credibility....it makes us" ALL" look bad! Not just the person who is giving the wrong information!
Posting just for that sake of posting makes you look stupid.
And yes we all have done it....myself included....we are better than that.....we are!

This plague has or will touch us all... we should use what unites us to help us help each other.
Allow our love of collecting fire our passion and share with others....who knows 1 post here on CT maybe the post that gives someone hope ....hope to go on, hope to fight this plague...and just hope in knowing they are not alone in this mess!

The one thing that unites us our love of this hobby should be the glue that bonds us...not the spark that makes us fight anoung each other.

I hope this message is well recieved by each member and make us all think....
I will be man enough to ask for forgiveness if my words or deeds has hurt any member.
But this isn't about being a man or a woman...its about being human...accepting responsibility for ones actions, but mostly RESPECT!

And compassion to try ,and understand each other, and be there for each other.

I hope we all examine ourselves ,and realize we are human we have faults.we all make mistakes...

These are difficult times....and we need to be there for each other not at each other!
My sincere apologies for any wrong I've done to any member here and humbly ask forgiveness ...End of story.

    ♧ Peace out Paddy

Well said. I have seen enough people treated poorly here and was at fault by not saying anything. I totally agree with not saying anything if you don't know what you are talking about.

Lets hope this thread gets some traction.

I think it comes down to things we were all taught as kids, treat others as you would like to be treated, mind your own business, don't interrupt, and if it doesn't help then don't do it. Thanks Paddy for reminding us.

    Hello all
I must say I am both surprised and happy to see this post by Paddy-
I joined some 5+ years ago but in a very short time stopped posting. Basically because when I did post I was immediately shot down by reply's from the longtime members here.
I am 66 years old and have been collecting coins and paper bills since I was 12 as A result of monies obtained from my paper routes and since my Dad and Mom were both bankers. While I don’t collect graded coins I do collect many different coins both circulated and uncirculated, as well as some magic coins. My posts were few but in most cases the reply's were that they were worthless. It was enough of a turnoff that I never posted again.I do collect many other antiques and collectibles as well and am also very much of an information hound on what I possess.
    Just thought you should know—

I firmly agree with ronbv. I am 35 and have been collecting since age 9, more seriously since about the age of 20. I feel I have a firm grasp on a lot of details in the series I collect, but when voicing such opinions I feel some (not all) individuals on the forum would be so polarized and defensive I get shot down. For this reason, I seldom offer my input on many of the advice threads. I do share my coins, but as ronbv mentioned, when even a few say your posts are wrong, useless, horrible, it is a real turn off for future forum involvement, especially when all I want to do is talk coins and learn a thing or two. I still read, share, but offer my opinions much less because of the negative reactions I have had. It is nice to have a reminder that this is a hobby, should be fun but respectful of others. Thanks for the post.

I agree wholeheartedly with @Paddy54 's sentiment. We can disagree and debate without it becoming rancorous. I for one appreciate spirited debate because it helps out the facts and the truth of a matter. But, when it devolves into name-calling and spite, all the good here is overwhelmed by the bad feeling.

Well said, @Paddy54 . I try to be nice to everyone, and if I happen to disagree with anyone, I keep my thoughts to myself, rather than start a flame war. There is definitely one topic I will never discuss again (which I won't mention) as I got flamed badly by one member here, and was basically called a liar.

Anyway, if I have offended anyone here for any reason, Mea Culpa. You have my sincere apologies.

Really appreciate this thread. We are all entitled to our opinions, and to express our opinions, but keeping it in the context of the Golden Rule definitely helps create thoughtful, informative discussions. Who knows, maybe CT can lead the revolution back to sane, respectful civil discourse!
