Saying good bye to a few of my favorite coins. They got sent out for my father-in-law's birthday. Only the Buffalo is just very slightly toned. Surprisingly, the Washington quarter was the hardest to obtain in something that didn't have a matte type luster.
Those are some nice looking coins! :thumb: The buffalo is my favorite. I like how you included the state quarter, that's a cool idea.
Your father in law should be very happy, beautiful coins! To me it is harder to get a present for a seasoned citizen, because usually through time they have acquired so many things, Good idea birth year coins!
I got tired of getting him a tie and shirt, so this was my alternate gift. It thurts tho, these are some of the best coins I've bought. I need to appply this to the coins I buy for myself.
Indeed! A good rule of thumb for your own collection/buying fortunately realised by this SUPER awesome act of giving!
I hope your father in law appreciates it. I know most people wouldn't, and those people are people who don't know much about coins, or just don't care. If I gave a coin related gift to my mom, I don't think she would like it very much, and make that really any member of my family, except for my grandparents, I guess it would kind of be weird though, getting a gift of something you are not a part of, like coin collecting. But all the best to you, and I hope he loves it.
Thanks everyone I think I did a pretty good job at picking out coins that looked "new". I talked to my wife extensively before assembling this set, and she is sure he will love it. She told me he had quite a few coins from his birth year but they were stolen a long time ago. Plus, I'm sure he is sick of the typical shirt and tie, and he's not much with tech gifts, although probably better than most 72 year old people.
I'm not sure why the pictures for the nickel is so far out of focus, the pictures do not do the coin justice, it and the 50c are my favs.
Nice coins for a Birthday gift! I wish that someone would give me something that nice! All I ever get is loads of crap and grief from everyone. Frank
