1983 Penny What type of error is this?

For now I have nicknamed it the "Polka dot Penny", as I am unable to find another example like it. Any input would be appreciated.

Here are the locations of all the raised dots. I was unable to photograph the smaller ones, but all are quite prominent.

What they look like to me are huge gas bubbles and not an error the one near the three could be a die chip

I don't know about the 3, but the rest of the "dots" look like zinc damage that occurs on a lot of post 1982 pennies, because they are composed of %98 zinc I think after that date. There are several different kinds of 1982 dates, but we won't get into that right now. Do you have a better close-up of the date. Your pic looks kinda of blurry.

Your coin like I mentioned before has a plating problem the fields have many gas bubbles on them Not an error sorry. I also, see the resembalance of a die chip near the three which is a minor error ,which I also said before.

As "just coins" stated the raised dots are gas bubbles. The mint had problems with forcing the copper to adhere properly to the zinc core of the cent. Gas bubbles where often trapped under the copper plating on zinc cents creating raised areas on the surface of the cents.

Thanks for clearing that up. I still enjoy this coin as it is very interesting (at least to me).
