So if you have no idea edited I’m talking about. Go to the 2021 APMEX 1oz Gold Britannia page link below or if you don’t like links you can find it on APMEX yourself (https://www.apmex.com/product/219229/2021-great-britain-1-oz-gold-britannia-bu) and click the very last image. There is a short 2 minute video produced by the Royal Mint. Basically it’s a cool 2 minute video about the 2021 Britannia and their new security features and WOW I didn’t even want a Britannia but now I really want one. WHY the heck doesn’t the US Mint make cool videos like that??
I might be wrong but I heard in the US the coin designs have to be approved by the congress, whereas in UK and Australia the mint makes the decision. edit- misread the topic and assumed why doesn't the US mint make cool designs!
* You see thats the real issue at hand....where a non U.S. citizen needs to explain to a U.S.citizen how their goverment works. As congress has control over coinage produced,as well design. Must of been missed that day in school....when they went over that .....
I have seen this plenty enough this makes my brain hurt lol. Besides videos why can't the u.s make coins like this?because our government sucks
I wouldn’t say they “suck”. Most Mint employees have no say in design. I think the Silver Eagle & Gold Eagle are great.
Your right the mint doesn't take the time to design great coins a lot time+effort=great outcome most of the time.i like the gold and silver eagle's also but anything besides those seems to be a marketing gimick and overpriced.
I would be happy if they just updated and upgraded the Silver Eagle & Gold Eagle with new security features like The Royal Mint did. People still buy millions of fakes and Chinese counterfeiters get better every year. Or at least update the Gold Buffalos with them. I also like that the Royal Mint does fractional silver down to 1/20 oz. Sure it may have a higher premium but a lot of people like fractional.
I enjoy your threads and posts and don't wish for you to be sanctioned. The three letters near the start of your thread are verboten. Just because you didn't write the word doesn't alter the meaning. Just saying... Now to your question, they do not think they need to? I don't know.
Oh my bad. I didn’t mean to break any rules. I tried to keep it PG by just using 3 letters but now I can’t edit it to delete it because the post is too old. But if anyone is going to sanction me I promise I won’t do it again so there’s no need. I learned my lesson.
US coin designs do not have to be approved by Congress. This is from the US Mint's website: https://www.usmint.gov/news/inside-the-mint/how-coins-are-made-design-and-selection-process
The US Mint produces plenty of videos. I haven't looked at them so I can't comment on their content. Go on YouTube and search: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=US+Mint+videos Looking at some of the titles I am going to start looking at them. Never can learn enough about coins.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. Many CT members know a lot more than I do so I'm sure some of them have the answer. Problem is, how to get them all to open this thread.
