Hello, I have bunch of European money i need to get rid of...i don't really know what its worth.

This is what i have right now for the most part. There is more coins from different countries but its like a grab bag of sorts.

    Netherlands Gulden - 1297.90---Notes - 1015, Coin - 282.90
    French Francs - 745.00---------Notes - 540 , Coin - Not 100% on #
    Iceland Kronur - 9900.00--------Notes - 6500, Coin - 3400
    Swiss Francs - 66.85----------- Notes - 0 , Coin - 66.85
    German Deutschmarks - 40.50---Notes - 0, Coin - 40.50
    Italian Lire - 1850.00 -----------Notes - 1850, Coin - 0
    Austria - 22.5------------------Notes - 0, Coin - 22.50

I can break it down to what I have in paper and coin and each denomination.

I think I have scans of the Gulden, i'm not sure, but I can take pics of everything and give years if it helps.

I can only go by what xe.com says its worth, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way lol so if someone could tell me what everything is worth it'd be great. You could send me a private message or email.

Also does anyone know a place in pa, nj, nyc that would buy these or appraise them and could give me a phone # and address i would be more than happy to give a generous finders fee or donate a % to the website.

I'm sorry that I posted stuff about metal coins in this thread, I thought it would be best to keep it all in one thread and not be posting all over the site lol if this does get moved can someone tell me i'm new this forum stuff

    Thank You

Here you go with some of the values starting from the top and working down, now most of them are for notes in Uncirculated condition (Unfortunatly your notes are not Unc) as that is all the Cat gives me. I am not 100% certain but they might still be ok to exchange at face you would need to check with the Netherlands bank on that one.

    p98 250G Unc $300
    p99 10G Unc $20
    p97 (Bird) 100G Unc $175
    P101 100G Unc $125
    p96 (sunflower) 50G unc $80
p92 25G unc 10 digit serial number $80 (the 11 digit one is worth $10 more)
    p91 10G VG $15, FV $30, Unc $100

I wont give opinion on grades as that I find can be very subjective but that dont mean that no one else can LOL

Ps when you scan some more can you post them horizontaly and not verticaly it hurts my neck to look at LOL

oh this is awesome ....this makes me really happy, that's 1500 bucks if they were unc... i was expecting a lot less.......when i hit my 10 and these go in selling section, are these going to sell or are they going to sit there for 6 months and someone might want 1 at a time and that's it....just wondering how these sites work...these scans are 2 or 3 years old, the notes have sat in my safe in a envelope untouched but it seemed no matter which way i scanned them they came out like that lol.....if everything sells, is there a donation section for this forum, most usually do. send me a PM on what grade you think they and value plz

most of the time, if the catalog give a price for UNC, but nothing lower, then the value for those lower grades is usually face value, or current exchange rates. This isnt always the case, but usually :)

As De Orc stated, the prices he gave were for notes in UNC grade. Your notes are not. So if you sold then at a price point of UNC, they wont sell, and will sit there for 6 months :)

The site DOES have a way to donate :thumb: the way i know of is to become a 'supporting' member. I would have to look around for the link as its been a while since i did it lol De Orc might know .. hint hint :D If there is another way to donate, i am unaware of that method.

The ones depicted here can still be redeemed, see http://www.dnb.nl/en/payments/exchanging-guilders/exchangeable-notes/index.jsp Note that the different bank note "generations" have different redemption deadlines.

The pre-euro coins from France and the Netherlands cannot be exchanged any more. The French and Italian paper money (at least the notes that were in circulation until the changeover) can be redeemed until 2012. But keep in mind that 1850 lire for example is less than 1 euro. German Mark cash can be redeemed without any limit; the same applies to most Austrian Schilling cash.

Iceland and Switzerland are not in the European Union and have their own currencies. As for the Swiss Franc, some older coins cannot be exchanged any more but most are OK to use. The Icelandic Krona has been in trouble lately but what you have (assuming your cash is post-1980) should be usable and exchangeable ...

The bigger problem will be "getting rid" of the money, I think. Banks tend to refuse coins if you want to exchange cash, and the pre-euro cash you would have to send to the national central bank, ie. Dutch Gulden to the DNB, German Marks to the Bundesbank, etc. And sorry, I don't know anything about collectors values of paper money.

a 'turn in' value is a good point to bring up. Once the note is no longer redeemable, there is no 'face value' to the note and only collectors value would then apply.

reddemable value and collector value could vary greatly once the note is no longer redeemable!

OK, Mickey, settle down, you're scaring the neighbors!:p

Unfortunately, I can say with 99.786% certainty that nobody is going to offer you even the current exchange rate on your Dutch notes :(. The only way to redeem them is to send them to the Netherlands central bank, which will NOT be cheap OR insured, along with a copy of your passport or other ID that is acceptable to the bank, and have the equivalent amount in Euros deposited into an account. The current value of the Guilder is about 63 cents US, so after shipping expenses, currency conversion expenses, etc., your 1,015 Guilders could net you around $500-$550, assuming they don't disappear in the mail, and that none of them are counterfeit. I have a VERY hard time believing that you will be able to sell them to any collectors for even 50% of the conversion value, since the vast majority (read: all) of collectors would be looking for crisp new bills on such modern notes, and the redemption process is very difficult unless you are going to the Netherlands anyway.

The coins that you have listed, assuming they were current pocket change when acquired, will sell on eBay for $5 to $8 per pound, or your local coin shop might be willing to pay $2 to $4 per pound, if there isn't much duplication. The conversion value on coins is irrelevant, since even those which are still current would require you to personally exchange them in their respective countries for 'real' money.

    Sorry for the bad news...

Way to take the wind out of my sails lol I've been checking ebay on and off for the past 2 years and i've never ever seen any gulders being sold by the pound...actually theirs usually never any newer coins on there, if there is its a single item.

Most world coins are sold on ebay in mixed lots (not talking about single coins here but lots) some sellers will sell say a 100 French or a 100 German but for the most part just lumped together.
