Not a silver coin but certainly a cool piece to have.
Issued in respects to his death.

Demonitized with a collector value of about $3. It has no melt value.

In conversations with a London coin dealer, he told me they almost never are found really nice. Don’t get excited. I see marks in the field and on Churchill’s face.

Numista says "This coin was not included in demonetization legislation when decimalization was introduced in 1971. It has been confirmed by the Royal Mint that the coin remains legal tender, having been remonetized with a value of 25 pence."

Not sure whos right. I'd assume it was demonetized but I suppose if the legislation doesn't specify :pompous:

I am probably wrong, but if it is 25 pence, that is about 32 cents in U.S. money. When I took a trip to England years ago, a pound didn’t buy much so a quarter of pound was even less.

I get hundreds of them over the year when buying collections.
I change them at the bank in bulk for face value.
No one will accept them for payment.

I bought about five of them on my last coin shop visit. I've been selling them for$2.50 plus shipping. They sell pretty fast.

In my experience, most coin dealers would be hard-pressed to sell these for about $3.00. Most of the coin dealers that I've frequented over the years typically throw them in with the boxes of bulk foreign coins.

When I was younger nearly everyone that collected foreign coins had one of these it seemed. I had several myself at one time.
