I was just given a 1922 NO D Lincoln cent slabbed in an ANACS to sell for a friend...any how It is VG Details- Net G4 plus it is slabbled as damaged and it has a spot on the reverse at twelve o'clock ...any way he thinks he can get $850...I say $550-600...what is your opinion...will post pics later...looking for census on what you would pay for a coin like this.. Thanks Neal
Depending on what eye appeal is left, and what the noted damage looks like, I wouldn't see myself going over $600 for it. JMO
Here's the closest match I couldl find for a recent auction sale: 1922 No D 1C Strong Reverse G4 ANACS. Die 2 FS-401. Internet Only ANACS G4 June 21, 2009 $503.70 (Internet)
Neal, When I check the "gouge" on the rev near the "N", I notice a similar effect on the obv in the corresponding position. Appears to me that someone was trying to "hole" it, and either didn't totally succeed or corrosion fill it in. Or it could just be the photos. Jim
Just another note, ANACS only gives the "no D" designation to those with strong reverse. You shouldn't have any problem getting $500 or so for that coin. You need a good photo of the damage, if it's minor, the coin will likely fetch more money.
Well it is 4sale Atleast now, after all your opinions, the owner will let me sell this for $600..thanks again...also for better photos...click on pic..then clicks it again...pics are bigger to see details..
