I just posted this in roll searches thread, but I found 28 rolls of 2009 P dimes at one of my banks last Saturday. I have been busy selling them since. My first sold for just under $50 and just over $50, so when I sold my next for a bit more than that, I may have blew it and sold several 2nd chance rolls for in the 50s. I say that, because they have been selling in the 60s and up to 70 since. I keep thinking the price on these will drop because I have now found these dimes in circulation (as you know), and at 3 different banks in my area. So my goal was to sell as fast as I could. Well, with the four I have up now, even if their price doesn't increase, I've made $1100 since Saturday. I have 7 more to auction as well.

So, though I'm not Manny, I've taken over $1500 gross on my dimes, and it is sure to be $1800 before it's done.

    Unbelievable. How lucky.

Wow Bob congrats...$1,100 equals to $275/day or if you were working a 40 hour week it would be $34.35 an hour. Not bad on a $140 investment :hail:

Just made a bank run and got 1 and a half rolls of 2009 P from a different bank. The half roll was opened by the teller, the other roll is T\T so I can't sell it as a roll because I'm not sure that it is 2009P. The teller said it was from the same person who turned in the other roll.

I just wish I could find the D!!!

Put the T/T coins in a coin tube and sell them as guaranteed 2009 P dimes. You may get less because its not a sealed roll but anything above face is a bonus.

My dad just sent me another 20 rolls of dimes. As it stands I am now completely out of dimes, except one T/T roll. Im starting to wonder how long these nickels will sell like they have been. I mean its been about 2 weeks already and they are holding up well at the $20-30 range. Even if I were to sell the rolls of nickels at the same price dime rolls are selling now the potential profit would be over $3,000.

This has been a wonderful experience but Im seriously hating already taking trips to the post office every day. I usually dont get home until about 5 pm so sometimes the next couple of hours are usually spent packing items and filling out shipping forms.

Ive always wanted a toned Morgan and I finally got my 1st one. 1887 NGC MS63

Bob do you realize what you just wrote? Same person turned in the roll? That means they are so in circulation that regular Joes are returning them in rolls. I thought at least your bank was getting them from their armored car company, but no, John Doe has them and is returning them.

Didn't think of it like that...
Could you possibly be saying what I have been saying all along... That they are out there and not key dates..
    What a shocker!
Well still time to go on a hunt for D minted dimes and nickels... I gotta find me some, and make me some coin money...

The one bank I got rolls from got one box of 2009s and the rest of their rolls were all old. I cleaned them out and bought the 28 remaining rolls. Today, at a different bank I frequent, I got the roll and a half and it was by Joe Public turning them back in. I wish I knew where Joe got them from, but I dont' Meanwhile, my rolls are going for $58 (average) on ebay, and I'm selling groups of 3 loose ones for 6-7 bucks.

But I have now found 2009 P dimes at 4 different banks and from my friend's business in circulation. I have no idea why I'm getting the premium on ebay, but I'm not going to argue it. For some reason, they made it to my area South of Houston, but most of the country hasn't seen them. So yes, Onecoinpony, it seems that they are out there where I am. That is why I'm selling as quickly as I can...

Where i got mine from theyve been in circulation for several weeks. The nickels? Not so much

I still think the prices of the dime rolls will hold in the $50-60 range for a while. They have been in that range for a few weeks now, matter of fact they have come up just a bit.

Sales of nickels have leveled in the $20-30 range with some going slightly over $30. If people are smart and do not flood the market with rolls and tons of singles at once then that price should hold for at least the next couple of weeks. I think people have realized now that selling nickels by singles is a lot better than getting a few hundred dollars for a roll.

Ive had many people asking if I would sell rolls but i guess people dont realize that in order to acquire one at this time it would require paying at the very least $400-500 per roll and I dont think most people would be willing to shell out that much money for one at this time.

You all know what is funny? That all the nickels on Ebay come from the same place. Even the guy selling out of California got his from the same place i got mine

Have you sold any multiples? For example a lot of 2 or 3 nickels?

    Just curious.

That is how I'm selling my loose dimes....in a lot of 3. I'm not getting much response from just one dime, but 3 go for 6 to 8 bucks.....not a bad profit at all.

I did two auctions for 2 nickels each and they each brought $50 for the pair. Ive since switched to singles because they seem to sell better that way.

Today I bought a candy bar from the vending machine at work and guess what I got in change......yep, a 2009 P dime. I've now gotten loose ones from 4 different banks and two different places in circulation and rolls at one bank. Someone please tell me how the rolls are still selling for $50 - $70. I don't get it (I like it, mind you). I only have a couple of rolls left, and I'll sell those. How is the price holding up?

Do you really need to ask?
PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE RARE... :p

It's not actual rarity the determines the price of coins, it's the perception of rarity by those bidding on the coins that determines the price of the coins, especially on ebay.

There are probably far fewer of these available right now than 1916-D dimes. Maybe there are even fewer than the 1982-NMM dime. There's no certainty that there will ever be more. Imagine if the coins sold on eBay are the only ones ever available in unc and the few in circulation are degraded before they are found.

A dollar each really isn't that much for many people to take a gamble.

It is a gamble if you're buying more than a nice one for your collection.

Oh yes, like that makes sense...
Ole' Bob over here is finding a plentiful amount, and found what, like 28 more rolls, and he is just selling them off, just like that.
If he is finding them, there are more out there. Manny and Bob have made fortunes on the 09 Dimes, and Manny on the 09 Nickels, but all Philly minted, I am on the hunt for that first denver minted one.
Now everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I just don't know how else I can say it, other than, THESE WILL NEVER BE RARE. :loud:
If you think on the cover of lets say something like a redbook 20 years from now, there will be a photo of a 2009 dime, or 2009 nickel, you are mistaken, the government isn't just going to say okay, lets get all the 09 coinage back and melt it... Not going to happen, a large amount of these dimes have been released into circulation, and they are out there. These could infact be semi key dated coins, IN THEIR OWN SERIES, but never, and I mean never in numismatics as a whole, I mean at the moment people are treating these things like a shiny 1913 V Nickel, and it is driving me insane.

you are watching the birth of a price "bubble". Some day, it will pop and the prices will plummet. If you get them now, take the money and run!
