My half crown. Charles I (1625 - 1649 A.D.) AR Half Crown O: · · CAROL[V]S D’· G’· MAG’· BRI’· FRA’ ET · HIB’· REX ·, Charles on horseback left, holding reins with left hand and sword in right / (triangle in circle). R: CHRISTO · AVSPICE · REGNO ·, oval coat-of-arms. Group IV Tower (London)Mint, Struck 1641 - 1642 A.D. 34mm 14.96g Cf. Bull 463/31; Brooker 374 var. (HI not HIB); North 2214; SCBC 2779.
Harp was current from 21st June 1632 to 11th July 1633, not 1633-4. C-R beside the shield will be C(arolvs) R(ex), not Charles Reign. Welsh silver is denoted by a plume above the shield on the reverse, so this will have been sourced elsewhere. O/wise ok. A decent round coin of full weight.
Thank you for the input, it is much appreciated. yes, I agree - I used that terminology thinking it would be better understood here. I will change it. Thank you for that information.
Thank you for that assessment - it pleases me greatly. Obviously you do not wish to reveal your real name, and that is perfectly fine, but I would appreciate a brief outline of your background and expertise in this historical period and British hammered half-crowns. Not that I question your knowledge - you have validated that by the information you have provided so far - but I may seek more help from you (please) in the future. If you would prefer to not broadcast such information here, please contact me via Private message and I promise to hold your personal information in the greatest confidence. Once again, thank you, James
