My cheapo scope broke and is held together with electricians tape I would like to take better photos, both for posting and for selling. Thanks
I just got this one for $20.99 on amazon yesterday. It's pretty good IMO https://www.cointalk.com/threads/playing-with-my-new-usb-microscope.374736/page-2#post-6229936
For extreme close-ups for die markers and such, you need one that has 3 megapixels or better. Celestron has a MicroCapture Pro with 5MP that eliminates pixelation problems. It may be higher cost than what you want to spend. 9 months ago it was $103 or so... I don’t know the MP on the one @furryfrog02 got...Spark
I have a "MUSTCAM" 10X-300X 5 mega pixels 2592 x 1944 resolution. I have a stand that is taller than the one that comes with it. As you can see, I am able to get the entire Morgan in a photo frame by raising the camera high on the stand. The Morgan is on the platform and the image is on my monitor. $40, works good for me.
Yes. There are always issues with light from the scope when taking a photo of a coin in a capsule. If you were to do a lot of that you might want to set up an auxiliary lighting system. For the vast majority of what I do it isn't an issue. And, when taking photos of silver dollar size you need to have the scope a little higher.
Thanks for the tip. I was concerned about posting quality pictures so I just ordered one of these online.
Great. I will help where I can. After you get it going good you can download PhotoScape and crop, combine and lots of other stuff. It is free. Below is a coin I cropped and combined. Very easy if I can do it.
