1958 double die obverse and die crack just before die failure I sent the best 2 examples in for grading with deep doubling and I am pretty excited

Not a doubled die. Just MD.

The die cracks are cool though.

I agree...not a DDO. Note that the outer devices in LIBERTY are the most affected indicating a slight wobble/rotation to distort the devices.

Im trying to be nice but it irks me to no end that we get these post on a daily basis. All the info is on line and in reference books. If it matches exactly, you have it, if it doesnt match, its not it. Error coins are not rocket science.

    That's not a Doubled Die.
    Not a life changer. Nope.
How much money did you spend for the attribution?

Nice Die Crack.. "Cracked Skull Lincoln"
I'm not sure they will attribute that though.
Definitely not a new mint error.
    Worth.. Small premium.. $2.00 - $3.00

    You can stop shaking now.

Next time, post full photos as well as the issue you believe you have before sending to TPG's. Consider this a lesson learned. On a positive note, be glad you did not send the whole roll. :)

The trouble in general is that folks don't like to read much. They'd rather see the movie, watch a youtube video...pretty much anything else to learn something rather than read...or learn from a master and not a hack. If our idiocy was left to misdiagnosing coins, we would be able to manage fairly well. But overall, we fail when the majority of us resist reading. Jumping off my soapbox...but I agree with your statement. In this instance and even more broadly applied. Studies show that after we leave school, most of us read very little and our level/interest in reading diminishes with time.

MD, and the die cracks are very common,
and do not carry a premium at all, imo.

Don't forget that every coin struck with the
cracked die will have it; they can strike
up to hundreds of thousands of coins.

They are common, and very easy to find in
    BU rolls.

I'm a big fan of this post from thomas mozzillo, clear concise, no messing around, a picture and give the references to head them in the right direction.
    Well done!

and it's a beauty to boot!

I know you're just trying to help, Tom, but where did you get he's trying to learn? From what I'm seeing, he's here to tell, not learn. He'll just have to find out that's worthless strike doubling and cracking from the TPG after he lays out his wallet. I see a person who asks, they want to learn; I see a person who tells, let them learn the hard way, they're not ready for anything from me.

I would be interested to know if you actually sent them in as stated in your first post?

Looks like MD to me as well. Afraid you wasted a lot of money but it will be a good lesson for you.

If history on this forum is anything to go by....we will most likely never hear from OP again.
