I am a little confused and hope someone with same experience can help me. I returned my 2009 Proof set for exchange because it was dammaged. There return message reads

Greetings from the United States Mint.
The amount below has been submitted for credit to your credit card as a result of your return or exchange being processed, or as a result of special action taken on your behalf by the United States Mint.
Thank you for shopping at the United States Mint.

Account will be credited for 29.95

My question is since I requested an exchange for a new set does this mean they are sending me a new set and recharging my account or do I have to reorder

I also got a cryptic email from these bozos. They did not even mention which product they were talking about in my email!!!

Good questions. The return policy is something new (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong) as of February. No doubt there are kinks to be ironed out with their new policy. It would worry me, too, to ask for an exchange and get an email saying they were issuing a refund. Good luck to you getting the resolution you asked for. Like it or not, you are the guinea pigs for the real-world experiment about how the refund/exchange policy actually works!

........i'm in the same boat. the mint did the exact same thing to me. they refunded my order (but didn't say what all they were doing) and re-shipped and re-charged my credit card. so here is what they do. to bad they don't fully explain. they refund your order that was sent back, THEN they charge you as tho it was all new. i guess they want to get you off the books then put you back on fresh. this is the government's way of overdoing the ordering system. in any event, today i got my NEW box of proof sets. i'm half afraid to open them! i might have got something WORSE! i'll keep my fingers crossed as i check them out.

Just got my notice this morning same as grizz above. They refunded my account then recharged my account and sent me a replacement set. Does seem kind of strange. I also hope I have better results on replacement set. Keep thinking they will send me some elses return and someone will get mine.

I returned my proof set and they refunded my money (credit card) and shipped out another set. I'm waiting for a better quality set.

By the way, The Coin Vault hucksters were selling the clad proof set for 1 cent less than the US Mint (including shipping) and I wanted another set so I bought one from them. Sorry folks for disappointing you but I thought they'd ship out a random set like the Mint. NOT A CHANCE. Those thieves sent me a set with the $, $1/2, the dime and nickel were in a cracked lens and they rattled. The other coins were beautiful but here again, The TV crooks AND the US Mint sent out shoddy products. They just ship out all the returned set that they sold previously and were returned for damage. That's probably why they were on sale. DOH!!!

The Mint had better send me a perfect replacement set this time. I sick and tired of getting screwed on these Proof sets. I'm also waiting for the Silver Proof set from the US Mint.

Well received my replacement set today and I got a pretty good set this time. Was surprised that I did not have to pay for shipping again which was nice since I had to pay shipping to return the bad set. Good luck to the rest of you out there on any sets that were returned. Hope you didn’t get my return.
