I'll be the first to say: you don't know what they are but you found one?
    Do you have a picture?

The star indicates a replacement note--the Treasury caught a defective note during the printing process, and this note was substituted for it. Something on the order of 1 in every 200 notes has the star, so they're somewhat scarce.

Some star notes, mostly those from short print runs, can have significant collector value, especially if in excellent condition. If you post a picture of your note (or at least its serial number and a description of its condition), somebody can estimate the value for you.

if that is your first star i say its a keeper. if not it doesnt really have any premium over face because of the condtion.

how can you tell its not worth anythig extra based on condition :) the pics are blurry enough that the note looks super crisp except for a couple slight bends in the paper lol

I would definately keep the note unless it was needed for most anythng else.

Very true Daggarjon, I know it has some value to it because I collect them myself. I'm not a big collector but have the knowlege to say it is wrth more than face value.

I agree Daggarjon, it looks pretty crisp except for those folds.

Well these notes are not in the books for prices but I believe there were millions or these stars printrd. Those folds and waves would take most of the premium away IMHO. I think it to modern of a note to command a huge premium. I have 15 consecutive crisp GEM notes from this series so I hope they are worth a bunch. But as I stated in my first post if its your 1st star then keep it. :)

I agree. It looks like 3.84 million of these were printed according to This Table. So, it's a pretty large printing. Plus, these color notes are new and a lot are being put away in CHCU condition. Because of the waves and folds...this note isn't worth much of a premium. But, it is a neat find and if it's your first star there is nothing wrong with keeping it. I have a bunch of star notes in my collection that probably aren't worth much more than face value.

i dont disagree with you urban.. well not 100% lol i dont think the notes will be worth a bunch! Any modern note is very tough to sell for a premium. But i dont think the ripples/folds/wrinkles/waves ect will detract from any premium either.

Nice find. Keep it for now and if you need it, spend it. I've saved most, but not all of the $5 stars I've found knowing that they're not worth a bundle, But when That certain thing pops up, I won't have any regrets about spending them. Here are some my teller saved for me. The last pic is just some cool #'s....................................................John
