Without a pic, how is anyone supposed to comment? BTW, did they send a note "no grade - unattractive fields"? How do you know why they did not grade it?
I'm sure they didn't refuse to grade it simply because it was "unattractive" - they do not use that as a reason not to grade a coin. It must have had some other type of problem, such as environmental damage, altered surfaces, corrosion, etc. Here is a link listing the reasons that NGC no-grades coins: http://www.ngccoin.com/services/nograde.asp But even if they had refused to grade it due to it being unattractive, that still wouldn't support your contention that they would lower a VF coin to VG due to its appearance. You have, in effect, shot down your own argument with your above example.
Well the point i;m trying to make is with the op's coin unattractive fields they refused my coin so why wouldn't they refuse the op's coin that;s the point I was trying to make ,and that's worse then the grade being dropped ,they refused my coin from being graded. So i didn't shoot down my own argument just adding a few more bullets. JC JC
That is some strong evidence for it being an S. Guess we won't know for sure unless we see it graded or in hand.
.........i know one thing. if i wanted a second opinion of a coin's grade i wouldn't hesitate in the least to have mark feld give me his opinion. he is a very well read coin professional and i would trust his judgment in a heartbeat! i wish i could have him screen my coins before i cut the check to any dealer or individual before i pull the trigger. THAT'S how much i trust mark feld. steve
You talked about a grade of VG due to its unattractiveness - that is mostly what we have been debating. Now you're talking about a no-grade due to its unattractiveness. NGC doesn't body-bag coins merely because they are ugly. And it doesn't grade VF coins VG, merely because they are ugly. Your entire argument seems to be based on the faulty premise that your coin was body-bagged because it was ugly.
Well if you want to use the term bodybag then that;s even better, why it was sent back to me. So what i have been saying from the begining of this thread the op's coin has a good possiblity of being body baged for it;s unattractive fields ugly toning ,and possible unnatural toning or maybe even corrosion. Joe
Well they body baged my coin and my coin wasn't corroded it was ulgly toning unattractive fields and there was nothing else wrong with the coin Dutchman so what other reasons would you thing they sent the coin back/ There were no other problems with the coin the strike was good for a 1972 Ike dollar which are hard to come by and a type 2 rare coin that's why i submitted it in the first place JC
This was originally posted by Mark a while back but I guess you didn't bother to read it... http://www.ngccoin.com/services/nograde.asp one of these reasons was why your coin got body bagged... not unattractive fields, or toning. If the toning was artificial, yes that would be a reason for the coin to get body bagged. Did you read what they put on the body bag? (they tell you there why it got body bagged) or are you making all this up?
No way of knowing why it would be rejected without knowing what it looks like. I'm having a hard time believing any reputable grading company would reject a coin simply because it is 'ugly' or 'unattractive'.
Well i'm a funny guy Rockdude, and they keep my blood flowing they feed me :eat: that;s why I keep posting they make me do it:desk:.
Here we go again with your asumptions that i'm making things up. I said in an early thread the coin was sent back to me for unattractive fields which was stated the toning of the coin poor eye apeal that;s what it said. There was nothing said about unnatural toning This coin was sold i have my own mail, order house bussiness called just coins other wise i would post the coin/ . This thread is not about my coin i'm just trying to make a couple of points out ,and used my coin as an example so lets keep the thread in context Please don't call me a lier Mr Ducthman:hammer: JC
And with that, the Troll reveals himself naked for all in the kingdom to see and laugh.:kewl: The End
The fact that coins will not be bagged because they are unattractive is not an assumption. However, unless you show us something, we can only make assumptions. Since you say you sold your coin, show us another example. you are so sure that this is their policy, it must have happened more then once.
Now how could I show you something when i don't have the coin anymore doe's that make sence I have know other example like that coin to show i;m just glad I got rid of it for a resonable price it was ugly toning I have to say the toning was similar like the op's coin with a little more bad toning on the fields . There's my example JC
So far, Mark has shown you 2 examples and you have shown us nothing. It is very hard to discuss what we cannot see. BTW, "doe's" is the possessive form of a female deer.
