I thought I heard $59.95 on the Lincoln set. Correction $55.95 http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/2009-lincoln-coin-chronicles-set.html
the lincoln proof dollar is now traded around $70.00 - $80.00 at e-bay. and the 4 pc cent is around $20.00. if the mint sell $55.95 per set. then 50,000 set will sure to sell out within few hours. what a bonus. can the mint sell it at that price $55.95?.
it might be during authum or near x'mas. so many products to be produce by the mint on the second part of this year. heavy traffic. isn't it. i really don't know. for the mean time. just safe more money to deal with it later.
There's someone selling them -- presale -- for BIN $54.95 (free shipping) on ebay right now. He's in for a big unpleasant surprise . . .
well i saw two offers by the same person i guess. selling at $54.95 with free shipping. and the mint is selling at $52.95. $2.00 mark up is not even enough to cover the shipping fee. what a guy?. maybe he is thinking that the mint is selling at the old price of $44.95. then that is reasonable.
even if he make a mistake and sell it for $54.95. i will still not buying from him. cause i can get any quantity from the mint for $52.95. and i am still thinking if i like to buy it or not.
I just ordered one of each from the mint tonight. I had never ordered from there before. Thanks for the address on here and the guidance.
My set has two bad coins. There's a smear on the reverse of the professional life cent and some small black object of sorts on the nickel. Plus two of the medals I bought have spots all over them. Sheesh. What is going on at the mint? I'm sending all this crap back. The mint needs to work on quality for once, instead of worrying about how much they will jack up the prices for everything.
If you bought them from the mint at $26.95, you should be very happy. Everyone else is paying $29.95. They do include 18 in lieu of 14 coins this year inlcuding: six quarters, four Lincoln series cents, four presidential dollars, and the nickel, dime, half, and sac. I think the price increase was for the four extra coin that resulted in one extra kit.
it looks like lincoln proof cent set have two variety of cardboard. by looking at e-bay. one color printed is very clear. and another is lightly printed. i received 100 set. but i opened one set. and it was lightly printed. i don't want to open the rest.
I opened up all five sets to check out Elaine's observation. I noticed that one of the five had a slightly darker color than the other four as noticed by me mostly on the flag side. The flag is faint on four of the sets but a little less faint on one set. It is more obvious when looking at the different sets for sale on ebay. I'm thinking that the printer had varying amounts of ink on the cardboard during processing.
I guess most all people here know, but just in case there are any new collectors here, be careful when you receive your set(s), and open them on the end where it is suppose to be opened. The other end is sealed, and the OGP is important to most collectors. Good luck to all! Chuck
