Wow, this will take some thinking and consideration.

1st this that was cool was I ended up next to a fellow Cointalker, Mr Organic. Our tables were right next to each other. We spent the whole 1st day next to each other not realizing this, then he came over and asked " are you AZ Jack? " .....lol yeah

Ughhhh, who are you? I am Mr Organic. After that we were buds all weekend.

I sold a lot of my goodies, but my fav part of the wekend was the buys. I snagged 1957 MINT SET to die for, color, color, color. A true wow set. I am also going to hit up an 1879-S PCGS MS-67 color Morgan in the morning.

I am typing this report after losing $100 or so in the poker game, `cards were bad tonight. I had the 1st hand curse......Won a load on the 1st hand wiath a pair of Queens, only to never see paint for the rest of the game. Charmy did great, AZ Mark cleaned up. We played with a bunch of So CAl dealers in the 6th floor VIP Lounge, it was a blast.

The show was great, the hosts were very helpful and we are comingback in December. I will post about the state intervention later, yes, Cali is NOT business friendly.

Tommorow, I am off after a short show day to another hotsauce gathering nearby.......West Covina. I look forward to my own bed again. These So Cal shows are great, but nothing beats home.

A few cointalkers stopped by, as always Acanthite Brad is always welcome at my table, i let him cherrypick my Indian cent rolls and seated stuff, no luck, I had no cherries.

We did a fair amount of biz, hit our table " recovery fee and costs" about 3 today, so the rest of tonight and tomorrow is free and clear. It is difficult to profit from a show like this, let alone pay the " rent" but we did. Good. I had fun and made some bucks.

Sounds like everyone had a good time. And that's what it's all about.

I was at the show for a few hours yesterday. I would have to say they chose a great venue, a large conference center with plenty of space on the floor, which kept it from getting too crowded in the aisles. I was looking for mostly non-US coins, did pick up a few, but pickings were slim compared with US coins. Spent some time at AJ's and AM's (Arizona Mark) table, as mentioned above I did paw through some IHC rolls, always a treat to look at un-cherrypicked material. Both AJ and Mr Organic had good displays, and while I was there they had plenty of interested parties stopping by. Charmy had her red banner up as usual, makes her table the easiest to identify from the entrance.

Oh yes, and the CA tax board people were out in force, several dealers were commenting on that. CA needs your money, bad.

Well, I just returned from the show - only 45 minutes on the road, not too much traffic even for a Saturday night, yeah! It was a very fun show, a great venue, and one of the most roomiest set ups ever! It was really great to see Acanthite, Mr. Organic, Illini420, and to finally meet Stella - who I also look forward to seeing in Chicago this week too. And of course, I always enjoy getting together with Jack and Mark! We hung out after the show, had dinner (we all had a wonderfully delicious halibut with a cilantro pico de gallo topping which was so yummy and tastey!) as well as drinks on Thursday night after the show. Then our hotel hosted happy hour on Friday night so a lot of the dealers showed up at our bar for half price drinks and snacks. We ended up snagging a few of them to join our poker game in the VIP lounge at our hotel. We really had a great time hanging out, chatting, drinking, and passing our pennies and nickels (which we used for chips) back and forth.

Now for the show, Thursday afternoon was pretty slow, but Friday picked up a bit. I made a few nice sales, bought several new coins, even a nice 1876 NGC PF64 RB, some really nice high end AU Lincolns (1911-S, 1912-D, 1924-D, etc.), and of course I had to buy another gorgeously toned coin - 1939 PCGS MS65 BN which is a silvery purple/blue! (I'll probably keep that one.)

Oh, yes, I've never seen the Cal Franchise Tax Board show up at a coin show in all the years I've been doing shows. That was quite a surprise, but I guess since our state is in so much arrears, they are getting desperate and a little heavy handed! It was no worries for the California dealers - but I think the out of state dealers were caught off guard. We all have to pay our sales tax, and California sure wants their fair share, that's for sure!

Then today, Saturday picked up also, lots of foot traffic, and some good sales - which is more typical for Saturdays. Now, for one little story from the show. A gentleman stopped by my table yesterday and told me about a few nice coins he has had for a while and was thinking about submitting to PCGS. He ended up bringing them to show me today, one was a gorgeous 1871 probably MS65 RB Indian cent which he left with me to submit to PCGS for grading. It's a really pretty and flawless coin. Then he showed me a nice 1916-D dime, probably VF/XF, that he also wanted to submit. He had bought this coin from a respected dealer about 10 years ago. Well, me not knowing a lot about silver, could still tell that it had hairlines from an old cleaning but I wanted to verify it before he "wasted" his money by submitting it, so I took it to another knowledgeable dealer who took one look and said it was a fake! Wow, my poor customer looked like you could have pushed him over with one finger! So just to make sure, we took it to another even more well known and very well respected dealer who also verified that it was in deed counterfeit. What a BIG HUGE BUMMER for my poor customer! - Luckily, however, the coin was still in the original 2x2 cardboard flip and the dealer is still in business, so I advised him to take it back, and that any reputable dealer should refund his money - since the price was also marked on the 2x2 - even if it was 10 years ago. I'll find out later if the dealer does take the coin back. I was told that there are a couple hundred thousand MORE known counterfeit 1916-D dimes than the amount actually minted - WOW! Pretty harsh statistics. Any way, just thought I'd share this, and send out a warning, if you want to buy a raw key date coin, please make sure you learn the diagnostics of the key dates in whatever series you collect!

Any way, all in all, I think it was a successful show, and I'm looking forward to doing it again in December. The only bad part for me is that I have my local monthly show TOMORROW and have to get up early, and do the whole set up/tear down thing all over again with no break! Oh well, the price of doing business - but at least I will get to see and chat with all my regulars!

Kicking back here at my buds house in West Covina , the skate board / hot sauce dealer/collector.

I did not get the mint set. After examining it at my table under my lamps 1st thing in the morning, I felt it was a gassed set, not what I wanted. I should have checked it before my thread last night, but I was so freaked about it ( good freaked). The seller was gracious enough to allow me out of a hand shake deal after I explaind my concerns to him.

I did get the PCGS 67 Morgan, a color 1879-S, a nice one. I picked up ( brace yourselfs ) 2 complete gem set of Jeffersons. Had to buy them. Could not pass them up. Lehigh will be proud once I start posting pics. Neither is for sale, they are that nice. Scoured the floor for 1909 -P Lincolns, snatched up a dozen or so. I think the VDB price and the non VDB should be flipped, it is way out of line with the level of difficulty and availability.

Bet my buddy Mark I could find at least 50 1909-S VDB's on the floor, he said I could not. I found 61 !!!!! Over a roll of them. Charmy was in second place with either 7 or 9, I cannot remember. One dealer had 10.

We made travel and table, made money and even made new friends. Show was brisk Saturday, we did a boatload of biz. Fri was ok, Thur slow due to our late arrival. CK Shows is one heck of a promoter, and I would encourage other dealers in the region to consider this show. I will definatly return !!!

I will answer PM's when I get home and have time. Untill then, I am still enjoying southern California and hanging out , look for some great new pic of personal coins I bought for my collection, I am jazzed about my Jeffs !!!

Yes there were a lot of svdb's on the floor - I believe the count was that I have 8, and the other dealer had 9. :high5: I was working this show alone, but if I could, I would have gone around and taken a poll of 1877 Indian cents. I have no idea how many were out on the floor, but I hope you will allow me to brag a tiny bit to say that I'm sure no other dealers even come close to the 18 that I have in my case. :D

Wow Charmy! Now I wonder how many does one need of a key/rare coin to make it a hoard.

Speedy, that's pretty impressive - and I like your thinking. As a matter of fact, why shouldn't everyone have an 1877 Indian cent! :high5: ;)

Why not!!! My only problem is that I'm wanting one in like F, and my budget says AG :D
I think this date is going to cost me more than either my SVDB or 09-S IHC -
