Okay I've heard of these and saw pics on ebay but even working in a bank have yet to see one of these. How many of you have seen one or have one? Where did you get it? Why aren't there any around here (Arkansas)?
I can't believe my bank won't get them for us. (I asked). We get a box usually (small branch) of each state quarter and presidential dollar so I thought that they would get these too but they aren't. I am getting ready to sell the older rolls of state quarters to tellers to use in their drawers. Are there any of them that are worth much more than face in unc rolls?
I'm a cashier at a busy store, and I have seen none in my drawer. The two I've found were from roll searching 3-4 boxes. Still haven't seen the log splitter (but some are in the mail to me...) Joe
I got a "log splitter" in my change from the food store yesterday and #3 daughter has seen them at her place of employment (convenience store) so they are beginning to make an appearance in our neck o' the woods.
APMEX Has BU rolls for about $5.99, However I think there is a $50.00 Min order and if you use a credit card the shipping charges are a little high. https://www.apmex.com/Category/999/2009_Lincoln_Cents.aspx
I have found a couple of each in change and had a full box of logsplitters in my hand last friday. Unfortunatly someone in CA wanted it more than me.
Hobo why do you keep changing your avatar how many personalities do you have I'm confused who you are ? JCFormerly Jazzcoins Joe
I find the log splitters all the time in Houston area. I just bought 21 rolls from a bank at face as well. Every one of them is a D.....need to find or swap for P....
So far this year I have receive two 2009 cents in change, both in the same transaction, at a local store. I asked if I could buy a few more, but the cashier said she couldn't open the drawer.
I have found 9 of the new 2009 lincolns and even an 1909 wheat back it even could be an S but it is very worn. The coin shop guy wasn't quite sure if it was an S mint or not.
I got a few from my local bank but they are not going to get any more. They told me that their main vault told them they couldn't have any more because so many people would come in with $10 and $20 wanting all pennies. They said that they even had a guy come in and want $200 worth. Let the hoarding frenzy begin.
09 pennies The mint sold out of their offering within a month, bank rolls are being sold on ebay at a premium. The quanties/demand of bank rolls are down because of the return of coinage from folks coin jars and the economy, so the release of the 09 pennies into circulation is low.
i too have not seen any of the new '09 pennies at the bank i work at. i know we did get 1 box but it was for the inside of the branch and i was out of town when they received it:headbang:
Have yet to see any in circulation, I do have 2 of the LP1's though (P&D). My coin store had a ton of them, a couple of boxes.
I only came across rolls of 2009 cents once this year. I bought 8 rolls and left 4 for others to have some. Then I sold 4 of them to the coin shop for $4 each. The dealer was happy cuz he'd gotten them for less than the $6 he was paying "his guy" and I got 8 times face for the ones I sold. I had a few rolls left and I had left some at the bank for someone else to have. Win-win-win!
