Yup and thats why I am quickly unloading my rolls instead of bothering with singles. Theyre now selling for anywhere between $100-125 so it is still "not too bad"

Looks like somebody decided to photoshop my pictures and now posted six of them at once.

Remember the guy who didn't pay for my first 2009 dime, (scottwhited2010) well on top of all of that, he recently left me negative feedback ruining my 100% positive rating!

    Unbelievable!!!

In a story of a uncharateristically GOOD decision, I wrote ebay, explaining what happened, telling them I even offered to take the money on a money order at the end before he canceled the transaction and the REMOVED it. I'm back up to 100%.

My recommendation, don't let this guy bid on your auction.

    Bob

Thanks for the previous warning...your advice saved me some headaches. On a side note, nickels have leveled off right around the $50-60 mark. There are now 3 sellers with nickels. We have all agreed on a 3 nickel a day strategy to keep a high demand for them.

I know soon some idiot will get greedy, come along and post rolls, and the prices will tumble quickly within a week.

Thanks US Mint for The Nickel and Dime Stimulus Plan.

Glad to hear that Bob. I've sold on eBay for years and have never had a smudge one on my feedback. As a matter of fact, I usually put an extra coin with my sale item as a bonus coin, and all feedback has been through the roof.
But to make my point, I have always wondered what would happen that one time I got a jerk buy something. I'm glad they corrected it for you.

    Good luck!

    Chuck

I might have to try the extra coin thing. I got tons of formative year pennies so throwing one in wouldnt be a bad idea to keep customers happy

I do it, and advertise it on my auction. I do that because it helps me stick out from the other sellers. There are a bunch of 2009 P dime sellers, but I give them an extra penny. Prices are way down for the dime, but I'm still selling.... :)

I have really been blessed with some awesome feedback. I've got thousands of coins that would otherwise sit there, and using them as a bonus without saying anything about it in the ad helps. Even if it's an old Buff Nickel, or a couple of old cents, or maybe a steel '43.
When people look at your feedback and see really good stuff, they won't flinch about bidding on your items.
    Good luck,
    Chuck

Yep, T$, I was sooo pi$$ed when I saw that he gave me negative feedback. However, since I had all of the messages saved, I actually was semi confident they would remove it. So, I didn't come over here and rage, but waited to see what would happen. Had they not, I'm affraid all of your computers would have burned up when reading the thread I would have started.

I'm just pleased it ended well. How strange that this guy, who I don't know from Adam, bid up my auction, refused to pay within the rules, then dinged ME for it. Bizzare!

I think I could live with one negative from a screwball. You can't please everyone and some folks will just be mean no matter what. Sounds like a guy we should all block.

I had a nickel buyer who was upset because i did not place his nickel in a 2x2. I placed his coins inside paper, wrapped good and taped so the coin would not get damage from moving around. The coin arrived and when he opened it he dropped it due to his MS (multiple sclerosis). Some people I dont understand...but he didnt leave a negative because the auction was as described. I mean I couldve just dumped the coin in the envelope but didnt.

I have since bought more 2x2's to prevent it from happening

There are some real nuts on ebay. I was involved with buying some PO stamped lincoln rolls, some crazy emailed me and said she was a postmistress in Fl. and that the stamping of rolls was illegal, and she was going to report me and the seller for postal fraud. I emailed her that the Director of the US MINT was at these ceremonies, and I was going to report her to the federal authorities for making this threat to me. Bang, she couldn't apologise enough times asking me to forget her email. Nuts, I tell ya.

almost all the 2009 nickels and dimes were being hoarded. no way that those coins will have numismatic values.

It's simply too early to know. There's a huge inflow of coin to the FED. When this turns around and these are released it remains to be seen if they are set aside or not. Of course this assumes they are ever released. There's every possibility that the new economy is not going to need 40 billion dimes for many years and the government will melt them rather than store them. The dollar could be impacted enough by inflation before these are released that small units of it are not even used. 40 billion dimes will make a large amount of good stainless steel.

I certainly agree that if these are all saved in unc that they aren't likely to attract much interest in the future. Look at it this way; there aren't even 200,000 '82-P dimes in unc and they bring only a few dollars each. There aren't even 10,000 nice choice well struck examples and they bring little premium. Unless the demand for clad coins grows these mintages might simply swamp it.

Modern keys aren't like Morgan keys. They are more like Morgans than other classic US coins but they are different.

All modern key dates of circulating issues are key because they weren't saved, they weren't well made, or they are varieties. These '09 issues are the first to potentially be keys due to low mintage.

Clad dimes contain some of the scarcest of all US coins. The '75 No-S is the most obvious example but there are numerous coins that were made in small numbers. ...The '82-NMM is often cited but if you want a nice choice gem the '82-P is actually scarcer. There are lots of scarce clad dimes that just don't bring much money because there is little demand.

I agree with you for the most part (but it's million, not billion) -- but I can't help but think that storing them and making fewer in the future is cheaper than melting them and extracting the metal.

And I don't think it'll be too long (as in: 2 years at most, probably less) before the economy picks up again.
