Anyone reading any good coin books lately tell us what. I picked up two new books " Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Cents " by Rick Snow and "Standing Liberty Quarters" by Jack Cline . The Guide book is a must have for anyone collectig FE and Indian Cents , Snow goes through each series by date , describing charectoristics of each year and MM , he lists Survivability , collecting challenges , Collecting Circulated , Collecting MS pieces , Proofs , and Varieties . A nice touch is his snapshot of each year , basically what was happening in the US or world during that year , so far I haven't started Cines book but have just looked through it and it looks like a winner too . rzage:hatch::hammer:
Nope, just been reading the 2009 Red Book every chance I get, over and over! LOL I want to get a book, on a series I'd always love to learn more about, and is also my primary coin set, my Indian $2.5 Gold Pieces... Love those babies! I'm also currently on the hunt for a PF63-64 Indian Cent, so I am trying to learn about proof indian head cents as well
I have been reading The Experts Guide to Collecting and Investing in Rare Coins, by Q D Bowers. Its a pretty interesting read.
Recently ordered the, PCGS Official Guide to Coin Grading and Counterfeit Detection. 2nd Ed. by John Bannreuther Also someone mentioned A Guide Book of United States Type Coins by David Bowers in another post today so I'm thinking to get into that title as well. Plus I've been meaning to get a copy of, A Handbook of 20th Century U.S. Gold Coins: 1907-1933 by David Akers. Any thoughts on these?

Alrighty Rusty I'm buying that Guide to Flying Eagle and Indian Cents, and also I'm going to upgrade to a 2010 redbook Thanks for the heads up, and I hope that the indian/flying eagle cent book is good!
I am currently reading United States Gold Coins: An Illustrated History by David Q. Bowers Great book, got it for a great price and its out of print now. I am also re reading numismatic forgery and learning about differential shrinkage with regards to cast counterfeits.
Tesserarum Urbis Romae et Suburbi Plumbearum Sylloge by Michael Rostovtsew. Published in 1903, but its still one of the most complete works on lead tesserae. Yes, it is in Latin. I just finished reading Aksumite Coinage by Stuart Munro-Hay and Bent Juel-Jenson. A very good catalog and essay on the kingdom's coinage. Also, I've started to thumb through Parthian Coins by David Sellwood, but I haven't had the chance to read it yet.
Very impressive! Glad to know there's a Latin literate member here! WOW! Rome is a favorite travel destination for me and Roman ancient history and architecture a fascinating subject. Especially Hadrian and second empire topics right now in my travels/learning. I like some of the Roman's coins too! just know next to nothing about them besides there are mad amounts of them. Have bought some from Glenn Simonelli in the past as gifts fro friends but that's about it for me and Roman coinage. http://mysite.verizon.net/gsimonel/roman1.htm
