Personally I don't see how people put up $655.00 without even handling the coin or looking at it in person

It is not just the 9 that looks funny, that whole date looks to me like it had been tooled.

If I had the money, I'd pay millions of dollars for a coin, that I don't see in person, if the coin has a return policy, and has good pictures, I see no problem in spending a good amount of dough on a coin

Now rusty and rlm, I agree, the date is "off" and doesn't look exactly real, and seems to be modified in some way, although I don't really now what "retooling" is :)

Good Call everyone. That date has had some help. Could have been an original coin, now it's just so much old copper. But someone desperate for a hole filler will give it a home.

When someone adds, moves, and/or removes material in an attempt to change & enhance a coin and its value.

Like when someone engraves all the letters in Liberty's headband where there were only three letters left from wear.

The date has clearly been tooled. :kewl: That's a no-branier but it's good to post ones like this to educate those who don't know about this type of deception! :goofer:

I would love to see this coin in hand. Why would you add the date to this coin? You know the date just from the features. Sigh..One day I would love to have a chain and a wreath large cent. Just not at this point. Sigh.

I'd say the coin is real, it's a S-11b or 11c don't know which subvariety because I can't see the edge, sharpness G-4/AG-3 rough and porous, obverse edge amaged Date re-engraved net BS-1 maybe Fr-2 if you feel generous. I's probably a $250 - $300 coin, and that' just because it's a 93 wreath. If it was a 94 it'd be a $50 coin. If the date wasn't re-engraved maybe a $500 coin

Quite obvious that none of the bidders bothered to check him out on Toolhaus.

Out of 5300 feedbacks, only the 18 withdrawn would bother me. The other 24 that count still leave him >99.5% when counting the neutral as negative.
