Also, please comment on if the coin in the photos appeals to you, as I think that may be an interesting discussion....Mike

    Does it appeal to you?

WAY out of my comfort zone, but I'll guess a PR-66 or 67. I do wonder what the 15 degree from vertical line on the reverse is.....I am guessing a scratch on the plastic and not the coin.

Yes, a scratch on the plastic.

    PF-66 but not a cameo.

Not a bad coin - very clean surfaces - but it is not especially attractive to me, especially the obverse.

AJ, I am pretty sure that line on the back is on the slab.

It appears to me that the coin was slightly mishandled in the past. I also suspect that it has been very lightly cleaned as there a few minor marks present and due to the dullness of the fields - perhaps it was even dipped at some point.

As to grade, 63 and maybe 64 because of the above.

Now, tilt the coin a few degrees and you have this coin (which happens to be my avatar):

Now does this second set of photos change your opinion of the coin and/or your grade? ;)

The lesson being -- be very careful assessing proof coins from one set of photographs.

BTW, PCGS graded the coin PR 66, and CAC agreed....Mike

Yes it does, the second set of photos makes me say PR66. Originally I said PR65, but as you can see, the scratch I see on the reverse, the rather big one, must be on the slab, not the coin itself, so maybe with that info in mind I would have graded this correctly
It is so awesome, just a tilt of the coin, and BAM, it tones! lol
    I agree, PR66 :)
