I seem to recall those types of spots showing up in another thread on this site with regards to these Lincoln pennies. That seems a shame for such an important issue of the Lincoln penny
So I guess to get a quality set, you'll need to order more than you want, cherry pick and assemble your own set, then send back the rejects as unacceptable crap. :hammer:
just wait!!! there are going to be a LOT more made and sold yet this year! This set may be the largest mintage of all time!
That isn't good.... Not good at all... Hopefully that lincoln set, with mintage of 50K will be calling my name, and I can buy it....
At this rate of popularity for the lincoln silver dollar, and the unpopularity of the rest, I wouldn't be surprised if they put a cap of 1 per customer on it. I am praying for at least 5 per. But as the days go on, it seems more and more likely to be capped at 1.
Any news yet about when it will come out? (All I've heard so far is that a guy at the US Mint kiosk says "I think September") And, for what it's worth, because there will be a household limit, it will not be available at the store -- only web/mail order.
i don't see any special with the 50,000 lincoln dollar and four cents set. both will have a large mintage. because individual or single lincoln proof dollar and four lincoln cents proof will be added to it.
I think these will do well solely because of the packaging. Look at the prices for the Harrison and Tyler Mint rolls. There's nothing special about these dollar coins. It's the Mint wrapper that's bringing the premium. The same will happen with the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set.
Yep! The packaging will demand a premium... I'm not paying a premium, but I can just hope the people I sell to, will pay that premium
I think the Lincoln chronicles will do well. The clad proof set? Not so much if they have sold that many copies. I'm still glad I got one for me and my son as this year's coins are very cool. I didn't plan to flip these. However, I will probably flip the Lincoln chronicles if the price is right...
total mintage for lincoln proof dollar is 325,000. for commemorative proof dollar. that is a huge mintage. no way for lincoln proof dollar and four cents set to go up. maybe just a little bit only. after few years. a bullion value for that.
And what's it selling for on ebay these days? (I can't access ebay from work -- which is probably a good thing)
my estimate mintage for these 2009 sets: clad proof set - 800,000 set silver proof set - 400,000 set mint unc set - 400,000 set
I just did a complete listings search on ebay....here are the last ones sold (I won't list the slabbed 70s and 69s which are over 100): UNC - 47, PRF - 67, 61, 65, 81, 53, 69, 59, 56, 56, 71, 62, That was the first page that went back to yesterday.....yes they are selling at a premium
