I was looking around on Coin Talk and I noticed a forum that said World and Ancient Coins. I asked my dad on what they were and he did'nt really know. If you could help me by defining ancient coins that would be great.

"Ancient" generally refers to anything struck before c 600 AD, save for coins of the Byzantine Empire, which are grouped with ancients despite being struck until 1453. Elsewhere, anything from 600 until hand-hammered coins ceased to be produced between the 15th and 17th centuries is considered medieval. This, of course, applies only to the Western world, the East has its own conventions.

Please note there is a difference in Old, Ancient and Prehistoric. Coins as old as GDJMSP are considered Prehistoric indicating a difficult means to evaluate.

Both of you can return to your caves now :D

You know how rocks eventually turn into dirt due to errosion ? Well, what is forgotten is that most all rocks were once dirt before they underwent immense pressure and became rocks. Both of these guys are older than the original dirt
