    today's finds

    Hi y'all,

Thought I'd post my best finds today from about $40 worth of pennies, with my best friend who caught the bug today after she found the attached 1903 Indian in one of my rolls! The other two are a 1936 S and a 1943 steelie, she'd never seen a steelie before. Also found a 1970s but I think it's a large date (low 7), not the small (high 7). Any opinions on it? Looks large to me.

It was my first day seriously searching pennies, and to find an Indian on the first day was pretty neat! Tomorrow we have big plans to go round up some more pennies and sift through them. Can't wait! :)

    Schroeder...what's a WAMS?

Thanks, rockdude. Thought it was. I have a silly question about the red book, the answer to which I can't find in the book and google turns up nothing. In the red book, where the mintages are listed, there sometimes is another number listed in parentheses to the left of the mintage number...what exactly does this indicate? Known specimens? Known circulated? I'm guessing it's probably something along those lines but can't find the answer.

The number in parentheses is for the proof mintage. When you see the dual mintage number you should also see a value in the proof column.

The lady at work was taking the bucket out of the coinstar and I noticed 2 silver quarters (1954 and 1949) I wish I could of spend more time looking through the mass of coins but these are my first silver quarters I have ever found!

Does anyone know what it would cost to buy a coinstar machine and put it somewhere? Wouldn't that be a bonanza for a roll searcher!!!

Everytime I see someone at the coinstar with a bucket of change being poured in, I want to run over and grab the bucket, yelling "WAIT! Let me look at those 1st." But I always restrain myself. My wife knows what I'm thinking as I calmly walk pass because I can see the amused smirk on her face.

I made a bank run today to get more rolls, and while there, the teller looked through all of her loose change and found 2 log cabins (Ps) and 7 Log splitters (Ds). I then got the change from my friend who owns a business to sort through it and roll it for him. I'm still going through that, but the good new is I found 2 more 2009 P dimes. This is good because I had miscounted and actually sold one more than I had (ooops). So, I can ship him one that I found tonight and another guy wanted another one so I sold it to him for 6 bucks (prices are way down). So, I'm now out of 2009 P dimes. It was quite a run. :D

Back to the teller. She was so nice. I have found that Wells Fargo has the most helpful tellers of any bank I've visited. that's been my experience anyway.
