To day I purchased two Egyptian silver coins: Picture 1: 20 Piastres 1923 KM 338 Weight: 28 g Silver content: 23,3 g Portrait: King Fuad I Picture 2: 20 Piastres 1939 KM 368 Weight: 28 g Silver content: 23,3 g Portrait: King Farouk I love the design of the coins from the modern egyptian kingdom, 1922-1952, particular the highest denominations. Using both portraits and calligraphy, they are the perfect synthesis of western and islamic coin traditions.
Excellent I had the Fuads all angles (left and right). Sold them as I got into Talers. Great pickups.
Lovely coins, I have a few egyptian myself and think they are wonderful, can I ask what the mark is running up from the H (mm) on the Faud?
At first I thought it was a crack, but after closer study it seems someone has drawn a line upwards from the H. But it doesn´t diminish the value of the coin to me. It´s just so...Kiss -able
