I think the Walking Liberty half is one of the best designs ever, and they keep looking good even when almost worn down to a disc! here are two from my early walker type set of circulated examples that I just photo'd today. Post yours too! (the S mintmark looks strange in the photo, but is perfectly normal thru a loupe)
Yep, the Walking Liberty design is generally considered one of the best for US coins. I've got a full set but didn't put any effort (and money) into it. I wanted the best coin I could buy for under $100. Obviously in a few cases I had to pay a bit more than that just to get a Good. Your two look better than my two.
The ones above were bought for a grand total of $1.... One of my supervisors at work brought them in and let me have them for face value.... not exactly 1913 nickels, but I still think it was a good day.....
It qualifies for the thread, technically, if not in spirit. But as I said, it was the best I could do.
Here's that 1933-S I mentioned. Photos taken with a camera stand complementary of AZJack. Cropped using the "Snaz method" that he taught me.
Well I don't have any walkers... But, seeing this thread, makes me wanna go out and buy a worn walker.. Thanks Guys.. LOL!!!! I would say nice walkers everyone...but... I guess I can say, this is one of the most beautiful designs, on US coinage..
I know what you mean Ox.... coins from people that are important to us can be some of the prettiest in a collection, no matter how they look.
As I am looking at these, is it just me or does the design of the Walker just keep its beauty no matter how much wear the coins sees? Most all of these have seen much better days, but they are still dang nice looking coins....
