    I'm not saying it directly

    "That lady found one"
I'd be in conversation, pointing that out

    What I said

"That is cool, that that lady found one"
I can't use one "that" because it is like I know the lady, and her position, but I don't, so I have to say, that that, meaning, I'm talking about something that, that lady did.
(see I used two thats again on purpose in that sentence)

    Money, that has value...
    We use monopoly money today...
I'd rather us switch to coinage, made with real value... Not just paper with ink
We are in debt, and we just print more money... That is the problem... A piece of paper, like a $100 bill, is worth $100 now, but if something were to happen to our money system... That $100 bill will be worthless, because there isn't anything to really back it up
When we used metals, that had value in our coinage, I believe we used real money...
Now we use clad crap, and paper, that has no silver or gold back.
I'm guessing that you are one of those people that believe that the norfed liberty dollars are unconstitutional? Well... I think that using norfed dollars make sense, or at least it does to me..

A monetary system backed up by gold did not work in the past and would never work in the future. Back then banks could somewhat back up the bank notes with gold, but could you imagine today’s world backed up by gold ?

I love the way you say “real value” when referring to gold or silver, because it’s the same concept as the bank note. If thousands of years ago gold and silver would not of been prized and used as a trading commodity what would you be setting value on ? various sized balls of yarn ? The only difference between monopoly money and “real” money is the ruling, at the base they are the same. Only in a capitalist world does one hold more importance.

Now if I leave my philosophic stand point I do have to agree with you as a collector that I do care a lot more about coins struck in silver and gold rather then nickel and the junk you referred to as “clad crap”

… but at the end of the day it’s the clad crap that matters because you are using it to fuel your coin addiction, and your country is printing it like monopoly money… I wonder what they would be doing if they couldn’t print it up and lower interest rates… probably plunder Canada for it’s gold :D

Okay, I see what you are saying...
What do you define as real money?
    And what is your plan?
What do you think the USA should do with itself? Because obviously what we are doing, ain't workin...

Jason’s definition of “real money”: Real money is whatever is used at the time to represent “fictional” numbers that can be accumulated and used/ traded for goods. So real money could be buttons, real money could be gloves… real money could even be bottle caps or “caps” but in this world we have cash as real money.

As for your question of “And what is your plan?” I’m not quite sure what you mean.

To reply to your question “What do you think the USA should do with itself? Because obviously what we are doing, ain't workin...” it’s simple….but realy it should have been what should you guys have done way back when…. When your dad did that loan for that third car, when miss B bought that 400,000$ home when she was bringing in 60k a year. But what should you/ we do now , is open our eyes and quit being capitalist swines that think that the rolex we buy will bring us X amount of joy. And that everything we observe is linked to a darn corporation. People are trying to turn the biggest profit even if it calls for screwing over your fellow “American citizens”

Like many other things , be religion or economic movement what is needed is consensus amongst the grand majority.

I will also use cheerios as currency of choice.

Yes, I see your point, about whatever it is to be traded for goods
But paper money, makes about as much since as cheerios with writing on it..
Gold has always been valuable, and had a value to it. It along with other metals, can make many things, and way way way back when, it could be used as a form of payment, like when the Spanish searched the world for it
If we got rid of a system with paper, I don't know how that would work exactly... Going back to silver and gold as a currency would be nice, and just like money has a face value, they could have one as well... Or... A certain amount of silver, or gold, could buy a certain amount of things... Yes this new system would confuse many people... I wonder what will happen in the future, I know soon, very soon, people will receive a card, and with that card, they have everything on it, and it is all through their bank account, now with these cards, there is no need for paper, or coins, so everything would be recalled. The way the know you are the person on the cards, is the chips, that they plan to put in your body. This all sounds strange, but this could very well happen.

Wow weryon so from what I read in your posts, it is okay for the government to turn their printing machines on 24/7, but if Miss B buys a 400,000 dollar house or someone needs a rolex to boost their ego they are the bad guys or the problem with our economy?
As long as we are producing I.O.U.'s all any of us are doing is trading debt the sad part is that it is a vicious circle that ends in hyper inflation. We have all heard stories from elders in one fashion or another about what a buck would buy when they were a kid, and for the most part it is a funny story. The truth of the matter is that same buck today won't buy as much because things are so expensive, but because the buck has lost its purchasing power.

As a further experiment my challenge to you is this take 1 ounce of gold and 954.60 cents anywhere in the world convert both to that currency and see what gets you the most of that countries currency. (The dollar amount is based on our price of gold at time of this post.) I think then you might understand the importance of having money that is backed by more than a promise.

Yeah...they even tried to make it "real money" and that didn't go over too well with the government. :D

It is working fine. The problem is our money is based on the faith in our economy. When the economy is good people claim it is the best thing ever and when the economy is bad it's the end of the world. Once the economy recovers...and it will...everything will be fine. Economy's aren't static. They flow up and down and the value of currency does the same. There is no way to make a perfectly stable currency because it must be backed by something and nothing is stable. What we have is the best thing that anyone has come up with so far...by a long shot.

The liberty dollar is a barter based currency. Like the people that wanted to use honey nut cheerios. The difference being that the liberty dollar is a 1 ounce .999 fine silver. The value is derived from the intrinsic metal not on what the buyer says it is worth. The government gets upset when you become a threat to their ATM card that has no limits. Hopefully the people will get their gold and silver that was confiscated by the government about 3 years ago. As Bernard and the supposed top 3 other founders were arrested and released this past week. Hopefully it will go to trial soon my guess is a year from now.

I apologize that you feel when the dollar is strong everyone is fine with the economy and when the dollar is weak everyone complains. Truth is that the people do not question the money until the economy begins to fail.

While technically correct, it is very poor style.

    I would go with:

"That the lady found one is pretty sweet."

That ya'll people are trying to correct english in a coin forum is really funny that people that write run on sentences that that person who wrote the post first is going to correct makes people just want to dangle a participle for.

Bobbeth87 you have to understand that as long as you can spell and punctuate correctly, that it means you are an authority to that on which you speak.

Oh, I can. I'm quite good at it in fact as nearly all policies go through me at my company because I catch so many things others miss. I've also written a book which takes great grammer, etc. My point is that in this forum, I don't care if I say "that that" because I'm just typing fast. And, the fact that there are multiple posts on it here is really funny.......to me.

    :)

I just wanted to know if "that that" was grammatically correct and if there are any other scenarios in the English language that allow for the same word to be used consecutively because it is very unusual. My intent was not to criticize Tmoney's grammar. If I wanted to to that, I would have started over 1000 posts ago.;)
