I'll do it only from circulation or from bank rolls....not spending any Premium on them.

The Bill was introduced last summer, later passed and signed into law in December 2008.

The Parks Quarters series will begin in 2010. Like the 50 State Quarters there will be 5 coins released each year. 56 coins total for a total run of 11 years. BUT BUT BUT the series can run again when it finishes for a potential run of 22 years.

6 US Territories this year as a followup to the State Quarters, and starting next year, National Parks will be on the reverse......I believe 4 a year, just like the State Program.

    Nope absolutely not...
    I stopped at state quarters...
These quarters, along with the territories, IMO, are junk
I won't be collecting any for fun, only for profits, to buy me more coins of my liking for for fun! :D

    I collect for fun...
When I buy my morgans, and Indian Head Quarter Eagles, I don't intend to sell those.. EVER...That means... NEVER :)
If I went out and found a 09 dime, for example... I wouldn't keep it for my collection, to me, it is just more junk, I'd sell it while it is hot, so I can get money, to continue my collecting

On the one hand, I agree with you. I collect the series I enjoy, but as a type collector, how can I pass up getting the 2010 mint set with all the shinny new quarters?:eek:hya:

That's not to say that I'll start a new folder and try to get MS67+ examples of each quarter from D and P.

I'll do the same thing I did for the 50 state quarters and territories: collect a silver proof of each design and thats it. Won't bother with anything else, not even to try to make a profit. I think too many people will be tired of all the coins by then for this set to be popular enough to be profitable, plus national parks aren't as interesting as state designs to many people.

I collect the silver proofs because although these can be classified as modern coin junk, I do appreciate the creativity and freshness that they bring to our coins, and as a type set collector I too cannot pass up at least collecting an example of each design.

So do we think the inaugural silver proof set will perform the same as the inaugural Statehood silver proof set? Does anyone remember the circumstances that caused that set's price to escalate so much? Was it sold for a short period of time, or was it just ignored?

    TMoney:
Why do you think they are junk? Some of the state quarter designs were very good, I thought, and it introduced so many people to numismatics, though the fringes of it. I need an Alaska D to complete my set, all taken from circulation.

Now, for my other question, I was making fun of you typing "for for" so I typed "for for for" but my attempt at giving you a jab got lost....:D

I never said anything about the Statehood quarters being junk
I loved the state quarters, and I think it gave me a push to become the collector I am today
Now, it is too much...They should have stopped at alaska, and brought back the eagle quarter reverse...
IMO, they ruined the whole commemorative quarter programs with the 6 this year... And then some people calling it the book ends.. UH NO! We have 50 states, then territories! Not 56 states! So Bookend... Delaware and Alaska...
I loved collecting the state quarters, and have one complete Denver set
I will never collect the national park, and territory garbage that has been released.

Oh.....the way it was worded, I thought you were saying that the state Q's were junk.

I actually think the territories idea for this year was cool. However, the NP's are WAY overkill in my mind. It would have been really cool to have a bran new eagle design on the back of the quarter for 2010 and beyond, but now we will have 11 or 22 more years of 5 designs a year. Uhggggggg.

It would have been nice to have a new design...Like a design, that sticks, not one that changes 5 times each year!
I love that eagle design, especially the way a frosty uncirculated silver one looks
I think everything from here on out is overkill what we do with our coins
    The penny...
    The nickel...
And now, changing the sac dollar...
I'm wondering if they will ever change the JFK half as well...

I wish it was 1999... I miss the first year of the state quarters, filling my little map, when I was 5 years old... lol I was so cute running to my dad, every time I got a new quarter, so he could reach the top shelf so I could get that quarter in that folder

The statehood quarter program brought me joy, and lots of memories.. :D

Well I think if you look at the mintages, in 99 there were 804,565 (if my source is correct) silver proof sets minted with no quarters only silver proof sets made.

Now let's fast forward to 2004 where 1,175,934 silver proof sets were made plus another 593,852 quarters only silver proof sets. Since a lot of the people who bought these (I might even guess the majority) did it only for the quarters I think it's a fair assessment to say that in 2004 they made over twice as many silver proof sets as 1999.

The only problem is this doesn't explain why the silver proof set didn't shoot up in value for 2000, 2001, and 2002 since they didn't make quarters only sets those years either and the full silver set was similar in mintage numbers to 1999. I think the best explanation is a lot of people bought the sets in 1999 since the program just started but then lost interest and demand wasn't as high for the later sets.

Hopefully the data on this site was accurate. http://www.bestcoin.com/us-proof-sets.htm

I was really disappointed when the NP's were announced, I think they should've gone back to the Eagle reverse or a new permanent design. I won't be looking to collect them, maybe just from circulation.

I did, however, really enjoy the State Quarters, and the territory coins were a nice twist. They were probably done to appease the territories and bring national unity, with half the population of Puerto Rico wanting to become a US state.

And I wonder, if Puerto Rico does become a state, they might start the whole state quarter series over to add Puerto Rico....;)
