Have gotten 2 boxes of half dollars this week one from the credit Union and one from the bank. Both boxes were short 1 complete roll of coins.

The first box i did not open until I got home, my loss.

The 2nd box I opened in front of the Teller, it took 2 managers to verify that the box was short a roll, and for me to get $10 back.

This was in Houston, Texas. Boxes were from Brinks and were taped shut.

Well at least you caught it on the second box. It does say on the box to verify it before leaving the bank... but i never do - but then, i have never been short a roll either.

With two instances at separate delivery points, I suspect the security folks at your local Brinks office would be interested in hearing about the situation.

Halpeters....THANKS for posting this. I never would have thought to check.

I did find in a roll of quarters a nickel and thus, short two quarters. I called the bank (it was my own) and they credited me the 45 cents I was short.

Thanks for that info, I will give them a call tomorrw morning....

I do find that some of the rolls are short a coin and some have an extra coin. So that does wash out. The missing rolls was a bit disturbing since the boxes are packed and sealed by brinks.

Have spoken to the local Brinks office and explained what has happened, they are suppose to be sending my a missing coin form to fillout, the person I spoke to acted like this happens on a regular basis. Still waiting for the form to be faxed/emailed to me. Will post more info as it happens.

Does anyone know if the boxes are packed and sealed by hand or by machine?

According to the Brinks Houston Office the boxes are packed and taped/sealed by hand.
