Buffalos are hard to grade, but I agree. 65.

A good buy for the $38 I paid for it I think. :)

I don't think you did too bad at $38.

If that grades 65 and you paid $38, then you got QUITE a deal.

That is one sharp coin. Grest strike. Great bargain at $38.

It's a nice coin but I was thinking it is not an especially good strike. The notch above the ribbon on the Indian's braid is not visible at all. The buffalo's shoulder hair did not strike up and his hip has a flat spot. But it is still a nice-looking coin.

Nice looking coin, but I'd have to agree with Hobo. $38 is AU-58 money for this coin, which it may be. On well struck Buff's, the reverse field appears to me as almost "cloudlike"; as if the buffalo's photo was taken with clouds in the background. As Hobo stated reverse hair detail is muted. The valleys in the Indian's hair should extend more closely to the braid. In hand my grade would vary from 58 to 62/63. Just my opinion. Still a nice coin.

I happen to believe it is an unc. coin but I agree it is by no means a good strike.

The price was right. I think it might get nipped a little for the strike but I'd call it a nice 64 but I'm usually conservative.

A beaut no matter what the grade. It would be interesting to see what a TPG would grade this coin.

I too think it is uncirculated. Sorry if you mistook my remarks as meaning I thought the coin was circulated. I simply pointed out that it was a fairly weak strike. And the weak strike will almost certainly keep it from grading higher than 64.

Here is my only unc buffalo and it has a little bit better strike, but not great either and you can see on both the weakness of the hair just above the braid.
