Phone lines still jammed.... Website sloooooooooooooooooooooow....:computer: Glad I had a subscription....:eat: Going after 70's on the cents and Sac dollar....:high5: :loud: Looking into the 36-piece Unc. set due out soon....might be nice to own a 2009 nickel and dime.
The site is still jammed, but a couple of weeks ago when I they sent me my confirmation and order number for my subscriptions, I looked it up and it stated that they are the 95%ers. It didn't say that in the listing, but in the paragraph just below, it stated they are the 95%ers. Chuck 2009 United States Mint Proof Set as your first set under this subscription program. The 2009 United States Mint Proof Set includes 18 coins, each bearing the “S” mint mark of the United States Mint at San Francisco: (4) Presidential $1 Coins (6) District of Columbia and U.S. Territories quarters (4) Lincoln Bicentennial One Cent coins* (1) Jefferson nickel (1) Roosevelt dime (1) Kennedy half-dollar (1) Native American $1 Coin
I'm getting this message... The United States Mint is performing routine system maintenance. The system maintenance is scheduled from 12:00am until 8:00am Eastern Time. During this time period you will not be able to access the Catalog. We apologize for any inconvenience.
yep for me too, I was trying to check my order because the last screen said I had two orders today, but I only meant to place one. But I only got 1 email confirmation so I don't know if I got overzealous with the place order clicking or not.
Crazyness abounds at the mint website ... Spent 2 full hours trying, trying, trying at noon Eastern time. Tried again at about 3 -- site was shut down by volume. Just now tried @ 7:30 pm Eastern -- slick as a whistle, the order was done and had an order number in less than five minutes. Crazy. :goofer:
I have a subscription for 2 sets, but I have NOT received a confirmation email. Should I be concerned? Anyone know? Thanks.
I received my email confirmation on 5/19/09, and it gave me my order number. Maybe you should check you deleted file or your spam file. If it's in your spam file then you will need to add it to your contacts so you won't miss it next time. Did you go to the US Mint site to make sure it shows your order?
Yeah, although I am new to coin collecting, I've contacted the mint several times over the last three months, mostly to ask questions. You would THINK they would increase their call center agents to ensure each customer was taken care of if they called the 800#. Also, the website is super slow too when the new stuff is available. Again, wouldn't you think they would upgrade it to allow more traffic? I suppose it doesn't matter, as we will still keep trying until we get what we want! Just irks me - especially since they know it's an issue, but yet do nothing to resolve it.
Just after my last post here, I got online and ordered some more, plus I called the Mint and verified that everything is A-OK. I really don't care how many they send me, they won't spoil, and they will always sell for more than I paid for them. So I have p[laced a subscription order, a phone order, and an online order. Everything is working fine now.
Don't hold your breath on that, they work for the government you know, and not all government offices realize they work for the people. Sometimes they try to make you think they are helping you, but in reality they are just getting you satisfied so they can get off the phone. I guess I shouldn't say that, but that's the way I feel sometimes. I've gotten used to it over the years. You've chosen probably the best hobby in the world, and some of the nicest people are right here on CT! Almost anyone here will do their best to help you. Good luck to you, but I'd double check with the Mint until you are satidfied that your order is placed, because it's possible that these get cut off . . . one just never knows what the mint will do.
finally i was able to order half of my wish list. other half will wait for few months in order to decide it. no rush.
Some are winners and some not, look at the 2008 clad proof sets, often selling for more then the silver sets. I will order extra clad and silver sets this year, Just to cover all the "gee wish I had.... ). I have some proof set runs from the 50s to present and the value is a lot more then what was paid for them. Bill
now i fulfilled my wish and ordered 100 sets of 2009 clad proof set from the u.s. mint. also i got 10 sets of the 2009 formative years. three other orders of 5 sets each were cancel earlier.

With the 09 proof sets I believe that will be a good investment. I also ordered 10 sets of the 2nd Lincoln cents, !0 of the log cabin and wish I had ordered more. Look what the 08 proofs are selling for now and I see a set of 01 silver proofs at $94 with 24 bids on it. I am with you as far as buying as many of the 09 issues as I can, if they do good I will be happy, at least I will have them and not be sitting here wishing. Bill
Here is another way to look at it, Quarter proof set from mint-$14.95, Pres dollar proof set from the mint-$14.95, 4 Lincoln proof cents pre selling for $20 a set and you still have the proof nickel, dime, half and native american dollar left. so even broken up the set is worth more then it cost. Bill
Does anyone remember what a debacle the Lewis & Clark Journey nickels turned out to be! I think the mint cranked out over 300,000 of the second set of Mint/Wrapped sets! I hope they don't exceed that number by much or forget it. These were a one year only also!!
